Object

Be the first player to reach the Rebel Base after escaping from the Trash Compactor of the Death Star.

Equipment

Gameboard, 8 cardboard Tokens (with plastic bases), 4 Death Star Blueprint Cards, 4 Tractor Beam Cards, Spinner, and a deck of 52 FORCE CARDS.

Component note: each Token is a folded card inserted into its plastic base. Fold the token card in half and insert it into the base.

Preparation

  1. Remove Tractor Beam and Death Star Blueprint Cards from the deck and set them in two piles to one side of the board.
  2. Shuffle FORCE CARDS and place them in the Card Holder on the Spinner.
  3. Set up each Token as per the diagram.

Gameplay — 2, 3, or 4 Players

  1. Each player selects a color and places their two Tokens (Leia/Luke and Han/Chewbacca) on the matching colored area of the Trash Compactor.
  2. Each player spins. The highest number goes first. Play moves to the left.
  3. On your turn, spin the Spinner and move one of your Tokens that number of spaces. A MOVE MAY NOT BE SPLIT BETWEEN TOKENS and must follow the lines connecting the spots.
  4. You can move a Token forward, backward, or sideways, BUT YOU CANNOT REVERSE DIRECTIONS ON A GIVEN TURN (e.g., if you spin a "3," you can't move forward 2, then back 1, in order to land on a desired space).
  5. The white spots and yellow Death Star coordinate spots (DS-1, DS-2, etc.) have no consequence, so just end your turn if you land on those spaces.
  6. If you land on a blue Force spot, draw a FORCE CARD from the top of the deck, do what it says on the card with that Token, and then end your turn. If the card says you must return to the Trash Compactor, move your Token directly back to the matching colored area of that space. Any other penalty move back (e.g., "Move back 3") must follow the shortest route to the Trash Compactor. When you're finished with a FORCE CARD, place it at the bottom of the deck.
  7. If you draw an "Escape from Detention Block" FORCE CARD, keep it until needed. If you draw a "Go to Detention Block" FORCE CARD, go directly there. You can get out on your next turn by playing the "Escape from Detention Block" FORCE CARD if you have one (then spin and move as normal) or by spinning a "3" (use the spin to move). If you don't spin a "3," you may use the spin to move your other Token instead. And if you haven't spun a "3" after three turns, you may leave the Detention Block on your next turn, using that spin to move.
  8. More than one Token can share a space unless they feature the same characters. If, for example, you move your Han/Chewbacca Token to a space already occupied by another player's Han/Chewbacca Token, you must send their Token back to the Trash Compactor! However, this rule does not apply to the Detention Block or Millennium Falcon spaces.
  9. Before moving to the Millennium Falcon, you must complete two missions:
    • ONE: Collect a Death Star Blueprint Card by landing on the Control Room space by EXACT COUNT with one Token.
    • TWO: Collect a Tractor Beam Card by landing on the Tractor Beam space by EXACT COUNT with one Token.

Dogfights

Spin to see if you WIN or LOSE (inner band of Spinner).

  • If you LOSE, move both Tokens back to the Millennium Falcon.
  • If you WIN, move both Tokens one space forward or diagonally.
    • (a) Move to an empty space and end your turn, or
    • (b) move to a TIE Fighter space and have another Dogfight.

If you keep winning Dogfights, you could move through Hyperspace in one turn!

  • If you already have the card associated with the space, do not take another one.
  • AFTER COMPLETING BOTH MISSIONS, YOU CAN MOVE TO THE MILLENNIUM FALCON ON THE FOLLOWING TURNS, but you must land on the space by EXACT COUNT with each Token. (If you do not spin the exact number, get as close as you can and wait until you spin a "1.")
  • Once your Tokens reach the Millennium Falcon, they are no longer affected by FORCE CARDS, and you can enter Hyperspace (the area between the Millennium Falcon and the Rebel Base) on your next turn, MOVING BOTH TOKENS AS ONE.
  • The Millennium Falcon is the only safe space on the board. If your Tokens get sent back from Hyperspace, they only move back to the Millennium Falcon.
  • You may enter Hyperspace at any one of the three entry points. You may move directly forward or diagonally (not backward or sideways). If you land on a TIE Fighter, you must engage in a Dogfight!
  • First player to arrive at the Rebel Base by EXACT COUNT or by winning the last Dogfight wins!
