- 1 rulebook, including 20 figures for Zen mode
Modes of Play
Staka offers five modes of play:
- Duel
- Flash
- Zen
- Crash
- Art
Duel Mode (2 players)
Preparation
- Both players receive six Staka rings (all that's needed for this mode).
- Make a draw pile out of all the cards and put them in the middle of the table.
How to Play
- The first player to win five duels wins the game.
- Please note: the players should play at the same time. It's not a turn-based mode.
- The game commences after a card is selected and is placed on the table with its figure side facing up. The figure diagram shows how the Staka rings should be stacked.
- The first player who is able to stack the rings according to the figure diagram on the card wins the duel. They receive the card. Everyone should then stop stacking and the game moves on to the next round.
- Whoever collects five cards first is the winner.
Flash Mode (2–4 players)
Preparation
- Put the column with the Staka rings and the die within reaching distance of the players.
- Make two draw piles of cards, one with the 20 easy cards (marked green) and one with the 19 trickier cards (marked red).
- For the Flash mode you will need a piece of paper and a pen to write down the score. You can also use your phone.
How to Play
- The goal of the game is to end with the least amount of points.
- Decide as a team whether you want to use the easy cards (green) or the trickier cards (red). You can also swap the cards each round, or play three rounds with easy cards, then switch to the trickier cards on the fourth round. The most important thing is that each player takes cards from the same pile of cards throughout each round.
- The last person who dropped something starts first. They take a card and show it to the other players. In this round they are the stacker.
- The game starts as soon as the stacker has a wooden ring in their hand. The player to their left (the counter) throws the dice and calls out the number they have rolled (eg. 4). They continue to roll the die and add the rolled numbers together (eg. 4+2=6, 6+0=6, 6+6=12 etc.).
- As soon as the stacker successfully completes the stack according to the diagram, the counter must stop throwing and record the result. Please note: the stacker can reach a maximum of 50 points per round. The fewer the points, the better.
- The counter takes a new card. They are now the stacker. The player to their left is the new counter. The game continues in the same way.
- The game is played until a player reaches a total of 200 points or more. At this stage, the players should finish the round, allowing everyone to have a final turn. They then should add up all of their points. The player with the lowest total wins.
Zen Mode (1 player or more)
Preparation
- For this mode use the rule book with the 20 figures.
How to Play
- The goal is to successfully stack some or all of the 20 figures shown in the diagrams.
- You can play this mode alone or with others, where each player can take turns stacking the wooden rings.
Crash Mode (2–4 players)
How to Play
- The goal of this mode is to keep the stack standing. The player who knocks over the stack looses.
- Invent your own new figures.
- Take turns stacking the wooden rings.
- The player who knocks over the stack looses.
Tip: If you run out of ideas you can use the 20 figures in the rulebook as inspiration.
Art Mode (1 player or more)
How to Play
- Create new figures like a sculptor and unleash your creative genius. Let your imagination run wild!
- Most important rule: Show us photos of your Staka creations on Instagram #StakaArt or send us them by email: [email protected]!
Extra tip: Some of the figures can be built more successfully when placing two wooden rings together at the same time.
