120 playing cards for 3-6 players + rules. Consisting of 60 Letter cards including 4 VOLLPFOSTEN cards, and 60 Category cards including 10 Action cards.

Goal of the Game

The goal of the game is to get rid of all of your Letter cards.

How to Play

  1. Shuffle both piles well, each separately.
  2. Each player receives 8 Letter cards face down into their hand. The Category cards and the remaining Letter cards are placed face down as 2 separate piles in the middle.
  3. The youngest player now draws the first Category card from the pile. They then choose one of the 4 categories and read it aloud. The other players must now quickly play a matching Letter card and name a term that fits the category. What counts is the first letter of the word. If the category is, e.g., "Animal", a player could play an "A" and say "Ape". If this player has further cards with the same letter, they may also quickly play these, provided they can think of further matching terms. The fastest player wins, successfully plays their card and draws the next Category card. They thus set the next category.
  4. Whoever is first to have no more Letter cards in hand wins the round.

We recommend playing until one of the players has won three rounds and thereby becomes the overall winner of the game.

Penalty Cards

If someone names a wrong term, then as a penalty, in addition to taking back their wrongly played card, they must pick up a new Letter card and set the next category.

Action Cards

There are 10 Action cards in the Category pile. When an Action card is drawn, it is carried out as follows:

  • TEUFELSKREIS (Vicious Circle): This action is played without Letter cards. The player who drew this card begins and draws another Category card. They read out a category and begin a list. Each player in turn now says a term matching the category (the first letter does not matter in this round). Whoever cannot continue the list or repeats something must pick up a Letter card as a penalty.
  • GROSSE CHANCE (Big Chance): The player who drew this card draws another Category card and chooses one of the 4 categories. The player who can play a card fastest may now play 2 more Letter cards within 10 seconds. Different Letter cards may also be played, as long as they fit the category.
  • KREISVERKEHR (Roundabout): Each player passes all of their cards clockwise to the next player.
  • WAHL-PARTY (Election Party): Each player draws a card from their left neighbour. All players draw at the same time.
  • LINKES GLÜCK (Left Luck): The player who drew this card draws a card from their left neighbour.
  • QUAL DER WAHL (Agony of Choice): The player who drew this card draws a card from a player of their choice.
  • PECHVOGEL (Unlucky Bird): The player who drew this card swaps all of their cards with the player who has the most cards in hand.

ATTENTION! If several Action cards are drawn directly one after the other, keep drawing until a Category card is revealed. The other drawn Action cards are played one after another in the correct order. After an Action card has been played, it is again the turn of the player who originally drew the Action card.

VOLLPFOSTEN Card

The VOLLPFOSTEN card has 2 uses. It can be used as a joker and thus replace any letter. So if you can't think of a matching term for your Letter cards, simply play the VOLLPFOSTEN card and use any letter. The second use is the counter: if another player plays, e.g., an "A" for the category "Animal" and says "Ape", you can counter by playing the VOLLPFOSTEN card and saying, e.g., "Ant". The countered player must now pick up a penalty card. A VOLLPFOSTEN card can also be countered, if a matching term with the right first letter is named.

Optional for the Pros

If the VOLLPFOSTEN card is the last card in your hand, you must counter another player to get rid of it and win. That is why it can be a disadvantage to save a VOLLPFOSTEN card until the end.

Tie-Break (Stechen)

If several players play a card at the same time and name a correct term, there is a tie-break. Only the players involved now play another round with the same Letter card and must find a matching term for a new category.

The winner may play their card and has won the tie-break.

Have fun playing!
