1 Game Board Tray, 44 Letter Tiles, 15 Bonus Tiles, Rules.

Setup

Place all of the letter tiles on the table face-down and mix them up. Build a stack of four tiles face-down, then flip it over and place it over the star in the middle of the game board tray. Build a stack of five tiles face-down, flip it over and place it on another section of the game board tray. Keep doing this until the game board tray is full and five even layers high.

Separate the bonus tiles by three categories: word length, letter used and color used. There should be five tiles in each. Mix the tiles in each category and stack them face-down, then flip them face-up and place them to the side of the game board tray.

How to Play

Choose a player to go first. The first player finds a word in the stack of letters. Each letter of the word must touch the previous letter vertically, horizontally or diagonally. The height of the letters does not matter. Each letter can only be used once.

Example (sheet diagram, "CORRECT" and "INCORRECT"): in the correct grid, the word "HELPS" can be traced H–E–L–P–S with each letter touching the previous one. In the incorrect grid the E and L are swapped, so the E no longer touches the H in the required order and the word cannot be formed.

The player picks up the letters and starts their personal stack. The height of the stack determines their score at the end.

Bonus Tiles

If the word fulfills the challenge for one or more tiles in the bonus stacks, the player receives that bonus tile.

  • Word Length – The scored word must match the length exactly. (Tile: "5 LETTER WORD".)
  • Letter Used – The letter must have been used in the scored word and the tile color does not matter. (Tile: "WORD USING LETTER E".)
  • Color Used – The colored tile must have been used in the scored word and the letter does not matter. (Tile: "WORD USING COLOR RED".)

In this example, the word "HELPS" qualifies for the "5 LETTER WORD" and "WORD USING LETTER E" bonuses.

The player takes those challenge tiles and adds them to their personal stack.

Challenging a Word

If a player believes their opponent is not spelling a real word, they can challenge them. The players then look up the word in the agreed-upon dictionary. If the challenger is correct and it is not a real word, the opponent loses their turn. If the challenger is incorrect, the opponent keeps their letters as well as any bonuses earned and takes another turn.

Ending the Game

The game ends when no other words can be found.

Note: The star in the last row is wild, meaning it can represent any letter the current player chooses, but cannot be pulled off the board and scored. It stays on the board and can be used as many rounds as needed. It can only be used once per word.

Winning the Game

The players compare personal stacks. The tallest stack wins!
