Components

  • 1 rulebook
  • 4 player boards
  • 1 central port board
  • 25 ship cards
  • 36 construction project tiles
  • 80 construction material cubes (4 colors, 20 of each)

Setup

  1. Place the central port board in the middle of the table.
  2. Give each player 1 player board.
  3. Shuffle all ship cards, then deal them to the players according to the number of players:
    • 2 players: 5 ship cards each.
    • 3 players: 6 ship cards each.
    • 4 players: 7 ship cards each.
  4. Place the remaining ship cards face down to the left of the port as the ship card pile.
  5. Shuffle the construction project tiles and place them in a pile to the left of the port.
  6. Place the construction materials where every player can easily reach them.

The rulebook also shows an example setup for 3 players.

Game Overview

The game is played over 3 rounds. Each round consists of:

  1. Preparing the central port board (not done in round 1).
  2. Managing construction projects.
  3. End of round.

Round Structure

Phase 1: Preparing the Central Port Board

This phase is not done in round 1.

  1. Take the remaining ship cards and lay them out to the right of the port, continuing from the port, in 2 rows:

    • 2 players: 5 ship cards per row.
    • 3 to 4 players: 6 ship cards per row.

Then place the remaining ship cards as a pile to the left of the port.

  2. Flip over construction project tiles and place 1 tile on each ship card in the rows on the right side of the port.

The rulebook's example shows the ship cards in the rows numbered 0 to 5 from the port, for use with the cost rule in Part 2.

Phase 2: Managing Projects

This phase is divided into 2 parts:

  1. Playing a ship card to determine turn order.
  2. Managing your own projects on your turn.

Part 1: Playing a Ship Card to Determine Turn Order

Each player selects 1 ship card from their hand and places it face down on the table. When all players have made their choice, reveal the cards at the same time. The number in the top-left corner of each player's card determines that player's turn order. The player who played the card with the highest number goes first.

Part 2: Managing Projects on Your Own Turn

When it is your turn, take your own ship card and place it on the ship card pile on the left side of the board. Then choose 1 ship card from the rows on the right side of the board.

  • You may choose a ship card from any row.
  • When you take a ship card, a card adjacent to the port (the nearest card in its row) can be taken for free, without spending any materials.
  • If you want to choose a ship card further from the port, you must pay construction materials, 1 for each ship card lying between the card you choose and the port.

Note on the rulebook wording: the text for this step places the player's own ship card on the ship card pile to the left of the board, while the end-of-round step returns the card from the port slot of the player board. The translation follows the printed wording as written.

Then, in any order and any number of times, until you are satisfied, you may perform the following actions:

  • Move construction materials into a construction site. Move construction materials from a ship card or from your warehouse into a construction site. The material moved into a construction site must match the color that the project tile requires. Once placed on a construction site, a material cannot be moved anywhere else.

  • Move construction materials into the warehouse. Move construction materials from a ship card into the warehouse. The warehouse must have an empty space to store the material, and each warehouse slot can store only one type of material. You may discard materials stored in the warehouse at any time.

  • Exchange materials. Exchange 2 construction materials of the same color, taken from a ship card or from the warehouse, for 1 construction material of a different color, and place that material on a ship card.

  • Place a project tile. Take a project tile you have received, place it on an empty construction site on your player board, and take construction materials from the central supply and place them on the reward slots above the project tile, according to the number of reward symbols on the project tile. These rewards are gained only when the project is completed. The color of the reward materials matches the color of the construction site where the project tile was placed.

If you have no empty construction site on your player board, the chosen project tile is placed in the failed-project slot instead. It becomes negative points at the end of the game, equal to the number of construction materials that project requires.

  • Declare a project complete. A project can be declared complete only when it has all the materials it requires on its construction site. Remove the completed project tile from the board and place it below your player board. Then return all construction materials on that project's construction site to the central supply, and place all materials on that project's reward slots onto the ship card.

When you are satisfied with your actions, your turn ends. Return all remaining materials on your ship cards to the central supply, and then the next player takes their turn.

When both parts are complete, if any player still has ship cards in hand, return to Part 1 and repeat both parts. Continue until no player has any ship cards left in hand. Then move on to Phase 3: End of Round. If this is the final round (round 3), move on to the End of Game and Scoring instead.

Phase 3: End of Round

At the end of the round, all players perform the following steps in order:

  1. Each player takes the ship card lying on the port slot of their player board back into their hand, for use in the next round.
  2. Shuffle all ship cards lying to the left of the port.

Then return to Phase 1 for the next round.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends after 3 rounds. Each player counts up their own score.

How to Score

Players score points from:

  • The point values printed on the construction project tiles they completed.
  • Bonus points from 3 or more project tiles showing the same building picture: 1 point per tile.

Players lose points from:

  • Projects in the failed-project slot on their player board: lose points equal to the number of construction materials that project requires.
  • Projects still in a construction site: lose points equal to the number of construction materials still missing from that project.

Add up all points. The player with the highest total score wins. If players are tied, break the tie in this order:

  1. The number of project tiles completed successfully.
  2. The number of construction materials remaining in the warehouse.
  3. The turn order number on the topmost face-up ship card lying on the player's board.
