- 6 Offense Dice (with football icons)
- 2 Scoring Tokens (1 Red & 1 Blue)
- 1 Power Chip
- 1 Field Board
- 1 Football Token
- 1 Down Marker Token
Game Objective
Be the first team to score 21 points.
Setting up the game
- Flip the Power Chip. The team (players are referred to as teams throughout the rulebook) that wins the toss decides if they want to start on offense or on defense.
- The team that starts on offense gets the 6 Offense Dice. The team that starts on defense gets the 6 Defense Dice and the Power Chip.
- Place the Field Board at the center of the table and place the Down Marker Token at the top of the Field Board near the Down track.
- Each team picks either the Red or Blue Scoring Token and places it near the scoring track at the bottom of the Field Board.
- Place the Football Token on the Field Board on the 25-yard line of the offense side of the field.
How to play
The team that starts on offense starts on their own 25-yard line. They have 4 downs to get to the 50-yard line or beyond. Once they reach (or cross) the 50-yard line, they receive a new set of downs and now have 4 tries to get to the opposing team's end zone.
Rolling the dice
Both teams simultaneously roll all their dice. The symbol that appears the most on each team's set of dice becomes their play. The team that rolled the most dice with the same symbol wins the roll. Apply the outcome of the winning play by moving the Football Token and/or Down Marker Token accordingly. See the Dice chart for a description of each symbol.
Example: The Offense team rolls 10-10-10-10-20-TD and the Defense team rolls NG-NG-NG-S-S-P6. The Offense team's play is 10 and the Defense team's play is NG. Since the Offense team has more 10's than the Defense team has NG's, the outcome of this roll is a gain of 10 yards (10).
The Football Token is then moved up 10 yards on the Field Board and the Down Marker is moved accordingly as well (one down up if the Offense team has not reached the 50-yard line or scored a touchdown).
When there is a tie within a team's own dice roll, they select the best play.
Example: if the Offense team rolls 10-10-10-TD-TD-TD, the result of the roll is TD because it is the best play option.
Tie Breaker and Power Chip
When there is a tie in the roll between the opposing teams, the team with the Power Chip may use it to win the roll. If they decide to use the Power Chip, they must hand it over to the opposing team. If the team with the Power Chip prefers to keep it for a future use, then their opponent wins the roll.
Offense Dice chart
- 10: Gain 10 yards on the play. Move the Football Token up 10 yards on the field board. If six 10's are rolled on a single roll, it's an automatic Touchdown!
- 20: Gain 20 yards on the play. Move the Football Token up 20 yards on the field board.
- FIELD GOAL: If the Offense is on their side of the field, the Football Token is moved to the 50-yard line and a new set of downs is given. If the Offense team is on the Defense side of the field (50 yards or closer to end zone), it's an automatic Field Goal. Score 3 points!
- TOUCHDOWN: Score 7 points!
Defense Dice chart
- NO GAIN: The Offense Team is stopped and no gain is made on the play. If six NG's are rolled on a single roll, it's an automatic Defense Touchdown.
- SACK: The Quarterback is sacked. Move the Football Token back 10 yards on the field board.
- TURNOVER: The Defense creates a turnover at the spot of the ball. Both teams swap dice.
- PICK SIX: The Defense intercepts the football and returns it to the end zone for a defensive TouchDown. Score 7 points!
4 Downs
The Offense has 4 downs to get to the 50-yard line or beyond and receive a new set of downs. Once they have received their fresh set of downs, they have 4 attempts to reach the end zone. On 4th down, the Offense team must clearly indicate which of the following three options they are attempting:
- Go for it on 4th down and try to get a first down or a Touchdown;
- Punt the ball away;
- Try for a Field Goal.
Punting
When the Offense team decides to punt, both teams roll all of their dice. The Offense team adds the sum of 10's and 20's they have rolled (all other values are ignored) and move the Football Token forward accordingly on the field board. The other team will start their drive at that spot (Fair Catch). If the Football reached the goal-line or beyond, the opposing team will start their drive on their 25-yard line.
If, when attempting a Punt, the Offense rolls six 10's, they are successful in their fake Punt attempt and take the ball in the end zone for a Touchdown.
If the Defense rolls six NG's, then they return the Punt for a Touchdown and score 7 points!
Field Goal
There are two ways for the Offense Team to score a Field Goal:
- If the Offense rolls a Field Goal when they are past the 50-yard line and they win the roll, they can decide to automatically take the 3 points. If they do not wish to take the Field Goal and would rather continue their drive, they move the Football Token up 25 yards and the Down Marker up one spot.
- On 4th down, once the Offense has indicated that they are attempting a Field Goal, they roll all their dice and add all the 10's and 20's they have rolled (all other values are ignored). If the back of the end zone is reached, they score 3 points. For example, if the Offense Team is on the 30-yard line and attempt a Field Goal, they must roll at least 40 yards to reach the back of the end zone and be successful.
If, when attempting a Field Goal, the Offense rolls six 10's, they are successful in their fake Field Goal attempt and take the ball in the end zone for a Touchdown.
When the Offense attempts a Field Goal, the Defense also rolls their 6 dice. If they roll six No Gain, they block the Field Goal and return it for a Touchdown.
Safety
If the Offense gets backed into their end zone (or onto the goal line), the Defense scores 2 points. The Defense also gets the ball on their 25-yard line and begin their next offensive drive (Teams exchange dice).
* Every time a Touchdown, a Field Goal or a Safety is scored, the opposing team begins their next drive on their 25-yard line.
End of the game
The game ends when one team has scored 21 points or more. That team is victorious!
* Important Note: If situations occur not covered by these rules, apply standard football rules to resolve.
