How do the five extra Helper cards from the update pack work?
The designer answered this directly in the official FAQ or a forum reply.

Shuffle all five into the Helper deck during setup. Each scores at game end if you took it. Building Helpers pay money per protected building of that type on the board, and the Operations and Strength Helper pays $1 for each Operations track and Strength track that is at level 5.
