Components

  • 12 wooden discs with sky symbols on front and back
  • 7 stars

Goal

The goal of the game is to make the last stacking move.

Setup

One player takes the 12 discs in both hands and carefully drops them onto the table. Twelve "towers" now sit between the players, each showing one of four different symbols: sun, moon, stars, shooting star. The younger player may choose whether to go first or to enter on the second move.

How to Play

Players alternate, each carrying out one stacking move per turn. Whoever is on turn chooses one tower and places it onto another tower. At least one of two conditions must be met: the two towers must either have the same height (the same number of discs), or show the same symbol on top.

Height

A tower made of one disc can be stacked onto another tower that is also made of one disc. Towers of 2 discs can be stacked onto other towers of 2 discs, and so on. Here, the symbol shown on the towers plays no role.

Symbol

Regardless of their height, any towers that show the same symbol on top may be stacked onto each other.

Both conditions (same height and same symbol) may also be met at once.

Existing towers may never be broken down again — this means towers can only ever be moved as a complete whole.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as a player can no longer make a stacking move. The other player wins the round.

Playing Over Several Rounds

The winner of a round receives one star. The towers are then broken back down so that the starting arrangement of symbols stays the same for the following round. The loser may choose whether to open the next round or to enter as the second player. Rounds are played until the first player has collected four stars, winning the match.
