Components
- 3 Pipe Dice
- 2 Creature Dice
- 2 Location Dice
- 30 Pedestrian Cards
- 5 Trap Cards
- 5 Location Cards
- 1 Score Pad
Setup
There are no turns in Snack Time. The game is played in rounds and all players will use the same dice roll in order to fill out their sheet.
- Identify the 5 location cards and place them in a row in numerical order starting at 1.
- Shuffle the pedestrian cards (not trap cards) and deal 1 card face up above each location.
- Shuffle the remaining pedestrian and trap cards together and place them face down to the left of the first pedestrian.
- Give each player a score sheet, and a writing utensil.
- Determine the location of the sewer entrances (or use the default setup on the next page): roll the location dice (brown) and find the space that corresponds to the roll using the numbers and letters on the sewer walls. Add a circle with a number 1 inside it. Repeat this 4 more times for sewer entrances 2-5 on your score sheet. Each player will have the same 5 sewer entrance locations. No two sewer entrances may be adjacent to one another (diagonally or orthogonally). If your roll doesn't meet this requirement, roll again.
Example (printed page 3 diagram): The first roll shows A3. All players draw sewer entrance 1 on the space shown. The roll for entrance 2 shows B4 but this is too close (inside the red box on the diagram) to the first. Reroll until a legal placement is rolled.

Score Sheet
A. Snack Spots - You will write the value of the pedestrian this creature snacks on in these spaces.
B. Sewer Entrance - These correspond to the 5 locations the pedestrians will walk past. Each one acts as a 4-way entrance so you may connect your pipe network on any side.
C. Pipes - You will draw pipes in these spaces to connect your creatures to the sewer entrances where they can snack on the pedestrians as they pass by.
D. Trait Space - The four corners are where your creatures are growing. Symbols from the Creature dice are drawn in these 16 corner squares.
E. Scoring Spaces - These spaces are used for scoring at the end of the game. See "Scoring" below.
F. Badge Icons - These will be crossed off as penalties for eating specific pedestrians and other points throughout the game.
G. Total Row - Use this row to calculate your final score.
Gameplay
Snack Time will be played over the course of several rounds. The goal of the game is to get the most points by eating higher quality snacks and making sure your Creatures are satisfied at the end of the day.
Step 1 - Move and Add Pedestrians (skip on first round)
Slide pedestrians to the next sewer entrance in the line and draw a new pedestrian from the deck to place at sewer entrance number one. The pedestrian at sewer entrance number five will be flipped face-down in a discard pile next to entrance five.
If the drawn card is a trap card, all players cross off a Badge icon and any Creatures that are connected to the sewer entrance shown on the card, receive damage. This is a one-time effect. The traps have no long-term effects. Place the drawn trap card on top of the matching sewer location card and draw a new Pedestrian to add to sewer entrance 1. Pedestrians will still stop at this location. Multiple Traps may trigger in a row.
Step 2 - Roll the Dice
Take turns rolling the Creature and pipe dice. It doesn't really matter who rolls the dice, however, as all players will use the same roll.
Step 3 - Fill in Creature Traits
Each player will draw in both traits shown on the purple Creature dice. The two traits do not need to be placed on the same creature, but both must be drawn if any open spots exist.
Step 4 - Fill in Sewer Pipes
Each player will draw in the pipes shown on the pipe dice. Pipes may be flipped, rotated, or mirrored. They must be connected to another pipe leading from one of the Creatures or from a sewer entrance. All must be drawn onto each player's sheet.
Step 5 - Check for Snacks
Starting with the creature of your choice, perform the following for each of your 4 creatures.
A. Check to see if your creatures are still hungry. If they have eaten 3 snacks already, the 3 skull shapes should have numbers written in them and your creatures will not eat more.
B. Check to see which sewer entrances they are connected to and check each of the pedestrians at those entrances to see if you meet the requirements to snack. If you do, you must write the pedestrian's snack value in one of the available areas next to that creature (more information in the next section).
Step 6 - Check for Consequences
The poster at the bottom of each pedestrian card shows the consequences (if any) for snacking on that person (see "Consequences" below).
Snacking on Pedestrians
The requirement to snack on a pedestrian is indicated on the two boxes (spanning 3 cards) on the left and right sides of the card. Note that the poster consists of 4 spaces spanning 3 cards. A pedestrian can have a minimum of zero requirements and a maximum of 4 requirements.
If you successfully meet the requirements to snack on a pedestrian, you MUST snack on them. Your Creatures cannot be stopped from snacking. When you snack on a pedestrian, simply write the value of the snack (number in the upper right corner of the card) in one of the 3 available skull spots next to the Creature who snacked on them. You must eat in numerical order starting with sewer entrance 1 and ending at 5. This may change your ability to snack at later entrances. Multiple creatures from your sheet and multiple creatures from other player's sheets may snack on the same pedestrian in a single round. Note that the pedestrian is not removed from the game and the same Creature may continue to snack on the same pedestrian. As long as the requirements are met, a Creature may snack on the same pedestrian at each sewer entrance.
Example: Jamie has 2 creatures connected to sewer entrance 1 and both of them have an eye. The pedestrian at sewer entrance 1 only requires 1 eye. Kyle also has a creature that can snack at sewer entrance 1. Jamie's two creatures and Kyle's one creature all snack on the pedestrian at sewer entrance 1.
[Diagram: example pedestrian card showing requirements; snacking on this pedestrian would require a creature have at least two eyes and a tooth.]
Consequences
- Badge Icon - Cross off one Badge icon at the bottom of your score sheet.
- Damage - Cross off one trait space with a trait in it. Damaged creatures may not use that space to fulfill requirements for snacking and cannot get that space back for the duration of the game. They will be required to use less traits for the rest of the game.
End of Game
Gameplay proceeds through multiple rounds until one of the following occurs:
- A player successfully feeds all of their creatures 3 snacks.
- A player marks off their last Badge icon.
Players should finish the current round (finish snacking and applying consequences), then total scores.
Scoring
There are 2 areas that contribute to a player's score.
a. Value of the people eaten - Total this number for each creature, in the square below the skull spots.
b. The satisfaction of your creatures - This number is calculated by multiplying the number of snacks your creatures consumed by the number of undamaged traits it has remaining. Each creature has a maximum satisfaction score of 12 (3 snacks x 4 remaining traits).
Remember to subtract negative points gathered from alerting animal control (badge icons)! Each set of 3 Badge Icons marked off equal -2 victory points. This means a total possible 6 points may be deducted from your score if all icons are crossed off.
Example: Carl's first creature snacked on 3 pedestrians valued at 2, 8, and 10 and was damaged once so has 3 remaining traits. The Creature's quality of snacks totals 20 (2+8+10=20). The Creature's satisfaction level totals 9 (3x3). The Creature's total value is 29 (20+9=29). Two of Carl's Creatures didn't snack at all so score 0, but his final creature scored a total of 42. He crossed off 7 badge icons so must subtract 4 points. Carl's total score is 67 (29+42-4).
Rat Snacks Module (the tasty module)
This module may be added into any game. During each round, players will roll all 7 dice. Each round players will draw a rat at the location shown on the location dice. There may be 4 rats on each space (we draw a small circle in one of the four corners). At the end of the game players get an additional point for each rat that is connected to at least one creature. If a specific location is rolled twice, add another rat and that space will be worth 2 points. If the indicated space is a sewer entrance then ignore the roll and nothing is added.
Example: In the score sheet example, rats were rolled on B3, D3, D5, E6, E2, F4, and two on F2. Madi was able to connect her Creatures to all of them. At the end of the game as she tallies up her score she received 8 points for the 8 rats her creatures were able to snack on.
If you choose to play without the rat snacks module simply place a zero in the rat space on the score equation.
Solo Mode
Solo mode is played in the exact same way as you would play with a group. In order to gauge how well you did use the table below.
| How You Did | Score |
|---|---|
| Near Perfect | 130-167 |
| Leaderboard | 110-129 |
| Very Impressive | 90-109 |
| Good Game | 70-89 |
| Keep Practicing | 45-69 |
| Truly Horrible | 25-44 |
| You Might Be Playing Wrong | 0-24 |

Advanced Mode
After you have gotten comfortable with the game, you may try a couple of these modifications:
- Have players take turns selecting where the sewer entrances are placed. This does not need to remain inside the number/letter grid of the location dice.
- For a more dangerous game, every time a trap card is revealed, shuffle it back into the deck. The game may also end by any one creature being completely killed (no remaining traits).
