- 1 jungle board with 4 clips
- 4 sloths
- 4 sloth chips
- 18 climbing strips
Setup
Punch all cardboard parts out of the punch sheets, and punch all slots out of the jungle board.
Attach the upper part of the jungle board to the jungle board and fasten the four clips at the joints.
Next, place the lower part of the box into the upper part and slide the jungle board in between. Make sure the colored butterflies and fruits on the trees match the insert of the box. The tree with the blue butterflies should be directly next to the sand space with the blue butterfly.
Choose a sloth. All sloths take part in every game. Place them at the start on the sand spaces of the matching color.
Place the sloth chip of your color face up in front of you. This way everyone knows who is playing which sloth.
Now shuffle the climbing strips and place them in a face-down stack next to the box.
Goal of the Game
The goal of the game is to be the first to reach the single slot above the hammock with your sloth.
Starting the Climbing Race
The youngest player (or, alternatively, the laziest) begins. On your turn, reveal the top climbing strip. It shows four pictures that determine how all four sloths may move.
- Climb one slot. Hang the sloth one slot higher. Note that the sloths move up their tree in a zigzag along the dotted line.
- Climb two slots. Hang the sloth two slots higher.
- Sleep. The sloth has fallen asleep and stays in its place.
- Descend one slot. Hang the sloth one slot lower. If it is still on its start space, place it in the bushes below instead, but it can never go back any further than that.
Place the climbing strip in front of the box, directly in front of the spaces of the four sloths. Each picture is now assigned to one sloth. The climbing strip may be laid in two directions, rotated. Consider which option benefits your sloth the most. Ideally, one or two flowers allow it to climb. If that is not possible, it is always better to sleep a turn than to fall back because of a broken branch!
Example: Directly after the start, you lay the strip in front of the box like this:
Now you move the orange sloth into the bushes, the yellow sloth stays on the sand space, the red sloth climbs one slot, and the blue sloth climbs two slots.
You could also lay the same climbing strip the other way around:
Then you would move as follows: orange climbs two slots, yellow climbs one slot more, red stays on the sand space, and blue goes into the bushes.
Very important: you always move all sloths, no matter how many players are taking part!
End of the Game
The first player to reach the hammock with their sloth wins the game. Congratulations, you may now dream for a turn!
Hidden Sloth Climbing
Play by the same rules as the climbing race. The only exception:
At the start of the game, each player draws a sloth chip face down. Each player secretly looks at the color they drew, then places their chip in front of them with the gray side facing up. Each player knows only which sloth is theirs, but not the colors of the other players.
The race to the hammock becomes even more exciting!
