Components

  • 240 double-sided cards (letters on one side, themes on the other)
  • Instructions

Setup

  1. Deal 5 letter cards to each player and make a draw pile from the remaining cards, letter side face up.
  2. Turn over the top card of the draw pile and place it in the middle of the table. This is the theme card. All players must now think as fast as possible of words that match the theme and start with one of the letters they hold.

How to Play

  1. As soon as a player comes up with a matching word, they sling their letter card onto the theme card and say their word out loud.
  2. Once 3 words have been given, change the theme: the player who gave the 3rd word flips over the letter card they just played and reads the new theme printed on its back, out loud.

The round ends as soon as one of the players runs out of letter cards.

Remember

  • If you don't say your word immediately after placing your letter card, you must take it back into your hand and additionally draw 1 card from the draw pile.
  • If a majority of the players reject your word, take your letter card back and additionally draw 1 card from the draw pile.
  • All 3 words given for a single theme can come from the same player.
  • If nobody can think of a word, just change the theme.
  • The game goes by the spelling of the word, not just its sound. In the Polish edition this instructions leaflet was translated from, the "C" letter card can be played for words that are spelled "cebula" (onion), "ciastko" (cookie), "chleb" (bread), or "czekolada" (chocolate) – that is, any word spelled starting with that letter counts, even where a combination of letters ("ci", "ch", "cz") produces a different sound. Apply the same principle to the letter cards in your own set: play a letter for any word that starts with it in spelling, regardless of how the combination is pronounced.

Scoring

  • Each player scores 1 point for every lightning bolt symbol on the letter cards they still have in hand.
  • Example: a "D" card with 2 lightning bolts plus a "T" card with 1 lightning bolt equals 3 points.
  • Write down every player's score, then start a new round.
  • Points from each round add up. The game ends as soon as one of the players reaches 40 points.
  • The player with the lowest score wins.
