Object of the Game

Find the most original English expressions from their French translation.

The Game

The game can be played either informally, with no stakes, or individually or in teams with point counting. Each game is played with one side of the cards only (yellow or blue).

One player is designated as the reader.

Reader's Turn

  1. The reader draws a first card from the deck, taking care to hide the side of the card to be read from the other players. Then, for each of the 5 expressions, the reader does the following:

    • Reads aloud the first translated expression to be found (in blue).
    • Listens to the other players' proposals.
    • If none of the proposals is correct, reads the 1st hint (in green), listens to the proposals again, then reads the 2nd hint if needed (also in green).
    • If none of the proposals is yet correct, gives the solution (in red).
    • Repeats the same steps for the other four expressions, and awards 1 point per correct answer to the player (or team) who found the solution first each time.
  2. The reader then passes the turn to the player on their left (or to a player of the opposing team, if playing in teams). This player becomes the reader in turn, draws a new card from the box, and proceeds as described above, continuing the point count if applicable.

Note: If the English expression to be found is guessed simultaneously by several players (or teams), no point is scored.

The Winner

The first player (in an individual game) to reach 10 points, or the first team to reach 20 points, wins the game.
