The printed ability of the Sherrinford Holmes card is a choice between two effects, shown on the card as "+ [card-deck icon] / +2 [magnifying-glass icon]":

• +1 hidden clue (card-deck icon): draw one clue card from the clue deck and keep it hidden on your side of the board, as described under Hidden Clues in the base rules.
• +2 investigation markers (magnifying-glass icon): take two investigation markers and place them in your play area, as described under Investigation Markers in the base rules.

The "/" between the two effects on the card separates the options: the card offers either the hidden clue or the investigation markers.
