The Cards

The set contains 8 Translator cards. Each card shows:

  • Two or three languages in the dark banner (the languages the translator speaks).
  • A yellow tab at the bottom right carrying a number from 1 to 3.
  • A white star at the bottom right of the banner, and a white asterisk at the top left of the card face.
  • A band along the bottom of the card: a requirement on the left, an arrow, and the result on the right. The card prints no words for this band.

According to the base rulebook, a Translator's yellow number is the VP printed on a Translator that has Retired and been placed under a Player Board (see Scoring: "VP printed on Retired Translators under their Player Board"). The yellow number on each card is therefore read as that VP value (inference from the matching base rule, the card itself does not say so).

The top-left asterisk marks the spot where 1 of the owning player's Influence is placed when the translator is employed, as the base rulebook describes for Starting Translators ("place 1 of their Influence on the top-left corner of their chosen Starting Translator").

The Translator cards in this promo have no printed Room number, and the base rulebook's Room rules (Silver cost and Gold requirement) are not printed on them.

Icon Key

The table lists each icon that appears in the cost and reward bands. Status is either Inferred (matched by name to a term in the base rulebook, or by a clear colour or symbol convention) or Unresolved (no term in the base rulebook matches, so the icon is described but not given a rule).
