Game Setup
Add the following instructions to the indicated numbered steps in the basic game setup:
-
Take the "Loyal Customers" Job card and shuffle it into the Jobs deck.
-
Replace the Neighborhood in North Side District with a "3 alcohol + 0 gun = 14 money" Neighborhood. If the Neighborhood in North Side is already of that kind, there is no need to replace it. If there were no Neighborhoods of that kind available in the box, take one from any other District and swap them.
Player Setup
If you are playing with the Golden Oaks gang, use the following instructions instead of the indicated numbered steps from the players setup:
-
Place the Bessie Starkman and Rocco Perri figures in their respective spaces on the Boss track.
-
Place one of your Control markers on the Neighborhood in the North Side District. No other player can choose that District, and you cannot choose to start the game in any other District.
Place one of your car or truck in that District. All other gangs from the basic game follow the regular step 23 from the basic game setup.
-
Place the "Alcohol Supplier" in your player area. Place 1 alcohol on the Alcohol Supplier. The Golden Oaks do not have a basic Gun Supplier.
Place the Harbour in your player area. Put 7 Liquor tokens on the Harbour's top area: this is the Liquor Supply. Leave the remaining Liquor tokens in your player area. All other gangs from the basic game follow the regular step 25 from the basic game setup.
Special Components
The sheet's component list shows: the Bessie Starkman and Rocco Perri figures; 1 Angry Boss figure (only used when playing with the Bloody Business expansion); 1 Harbour; and 17 Liquor tokens.
The Golden Oaks Gang Rules
Get Liquor Action
The Golden Oaks gang has a special "Get Liquor" action available during their Action phase. This is considered an additional action, and not an order. You can Get liquor once per Action turn. Follow the steps below to Get liquor:
- Send 1 thug to the Harbour.
- Take up to as many liquor from the Liquor Supply as muscle in your Plan and distribute them as you wish among the Districts. You can place liquor in Districts even if you don't have presence in them.
Selling Liquor
Each time a sale takes place in any District that has liquor in it, you may sell as many of those liquor as you want. For each liquor you sell, gain money equal to the highest liquor price you have unlocked in the Harbour. Return all sold liquor back to the Liquor Supply on the Harbour except one. That one liquor can be either put back to the Liquor Supply or used to unlock the next Harbour effect, by placing it in the lowest number box that still does not have a liquor in it. You may use 1 liquor this way for each individual sale in which you have sold liquor.
Harbour Effects
Each unlocked Harbour box (any that has a liquor on it), grants you an effect or advantage. The highest unlocked "Price" box establishes the amount of money gained from each liquor sold. The Harbour box with a liquor icon is always considered occupied, establishing the initial liquor price at 3 money.
The Bosses
The Golden Oaks are led by two bosses, each one with their own figure and Gang Member card.
When you play Bessie Starkman or Rocco Perri in your Plan, each of them can only perform 2 of their available skills, instead of the usual 3.
When you carry out an "Upgrade your gang" order, you must choose one of your two Bosses, and advance that one on its specific Boss track. The muscle and influence of each Boss corresponds to the value indicated at their current position on the Boss track.
Other Considerations
-
Each time you upgrade your Liquor Supply gang stat in the Gang board, take 5 liquor from your player area and add them to the Liquor Supply of the Harbour. If you lose a Liquor Supply upgrade, you must return 5 liquor to your player area: take them from the Liquor Supply, from Districts, or from the Harbour effect boxes.
-
The Golden Oaks have 4 Boss track rewards with Right-Hand icons, so you can potentially obtain 4 Right-Hands for your gang.
-
The Golden Oaks do not have the Dealers Supply gang stat, so you can not increase the alcohol/gun provided by dealers this way.
-
The Harbour does not have a thug capacity limit.
-
At step 1 of your Reorganization turn, The Golden Oaks do not carry out any sales in the Neighborhoods.
-
At step 3 of your Reorganization turn, when retrieving thugs, retrieve also all your thugs from the Harbour.
-
When the Angry Boss figure is used to carry out any order, add the combined muscle and influence from Rocco and Bessie to that order.
Harbour Board
The Harbour board's header reads "Harbour" with the Get action "Get liquor: 1 muscle : 1 liquor". Its boxes are numbered 1 to 15 and are listed below by number. The effects are the boxes' printed text.
- 1. Once during your action turn, you may spend 1 alcohol to move 1 police.
- 2. Add +1 money to each of your Business markers' profit.
- 3. Price: 4 money.
