Aim of the Game
Whoever has collected the most points after six rounds wins the game!
Before the First Game
Take the punch boards out of the box and gently push out the critter tokens.
Game Setup
First, you need paper and a pencil to record each player's rolled points.
Then, each player receives six critter tokens, one of each critter, which they place in front of them with the colored side facing up.
The Game Begins
Play proceeds clockwise. The game is played over six rounds.
The youngest player starts and rolls all eight dice.
The aim is for the evaluation of the dice roll to achieve as high a sum as possible. The sum is calculated from the number of dice showing the critter being scored, times the lowest value shown among the set-aside dice. Which critter is scored is chosen by the player at the end of their rolls.
Note: Each critter may only be scored once in the course of the game!
How Is It Rolled?
After every dice roll, the player must set aside at least one die to be scored.
The player may set aside as many dice as they want. Critter and Food dice may be set aside together, and dice of different values may be set aside at the same time. Once a die has been set aside, it is not rolled again.
Example
Benjamin rolls on his first roll: Echidna, Echidna, Snake, Snake, 5, 5, 4, and 2.
He decides to set aside both Echidnas and the two 5s, and rolls the remaining four dice again: Quokka, Kangaroo, 4, and 2.
He sets aside the 4 and rolls the remaining three dice: Platypus, Echidna, and 3.
He sets aside the Echidna and rolls the remaining dice again: Kangaroo and 5.
From this roll he sets aside the 5; he rolls the last die, a Quokka, and sets it aside with his other dice.
Evaluation
The player multiplies the lowest value shown among their set-aside Food dice by the number of dice showing the critter they choose to score. The player must choose one of the rolled critters.
Each critter may only be scored once in the course of the game.
Example
Benjamin's round result looks like this: Echidna, Echidna, Echidna, Quokka, 5, 5, 5, and 4.
He decides to score the roll for the Echidnas. He multiplies the number of dice showing that critter by the lowest-value Food die, so 3 Echidnas x 4 = 12 points.
Attention, Sausage Sizzle!
On the four Food dice, two of the sides show a sausage instead of a number.
If, at the end of the round, the Food dice show both numbers and sausages — for example 3 x 5 and 1 x sausage — the sausage counts as 1, and the number of critters rolled is multiplied by 1.
Example: 5, 5, 5, Sausage, Kangaroo, Kangaroo, Kangaroo, Kangaroo → 1 x 4 = 4
If, at the end of the round, all four Food dice show sausages, they count as 7. The number of critters rolled is then multiplied by 7.
Example: Sausage, Sausage, Sausage, Sausage, Kangaroo, Kangaroo, Kangaroo, Kangaroo → 7 x 4 = 28
The points are recorded for the player. The player turns over the token of the critter that was scored.
Then the next player takes their turn. They roll all eight dice...
End of the Game
The game ends after the sixth round, once every player has turned over all of their critter tokens. Now each player's results are added up.
Whoever has the most points wins the game!
