2 dwarfs (with bases), 2 dwarf counters, 16 gold nuggets (worth 1 gold each).

Important note: Play according to the base game rules of Saboteur or Saboteur 2, respectively. Any changes or expansions to these rules are detailed below.

Preparation

Attach the two dwarfs to their bases and put them and their counters within easy reach. At the start of the game, hand each player 1 gold nugget. If you have any nuggets left, put them back in the box. You won't need them for this game.

Playing the Game

When it's your turn, you have an extra action to choose from:

  • Discard 1 card from your hand and place a dwarf in the tunnel.

For each dwarf, only one player can choose this action each round.

Placing a Dwarf

If you choose to take this action, discard any one card from your hand and take one of the dwarfs, as well as its counter. Place the dwarf at the end of a path that could be continued. The dwarf blocks all players from continuing that path. Put the dwarf counter in front of yourself to indicate that you have placed a dwarf.

Note: You do not draw a card if you choose this action. Placing the dwarf permanently reduces the number of cards in your hand by one.

Paying for and Removing a Dwarf

If you want to continue the path in a place where a dwarf has been put, you have to pay 1 gold to do it. Give the gold to the player who has placed the dwarf there. Once you've paid, return the dwarf and its counter to the box. They cannot be used again by any player this round.

Note: If you can't afford to pay one gold, another player may help you out with their gold.

Start a New Round

Get the dwarfs and their counters ready for the next round. You can all choose to use them again. After the first round, you can also pay for dwarfs with the gold you have won in previous rounds.

The End of the Game

Each gold nugget is worth 1 gold. Add their value to your total.
