Modules

This expansion is split into two separate modules:

  • A. Frontier cards: this deck is an addition to the base game that gives both players more tactical options.

Note: To use Module A you will need the expansions Revolver 1-1: Ambush on Gunshot Trail and Revolver 1-2: Hunt the Man Down, since many Frontier cards are linked to the Prison and Ambush cards from those expansions.

  • B. Building your own deck: the new cards let both players build their own decks and explore new combat tactics.

Module A: Frontier Cards

Setup

  1. Place 2 silver dollar tokens on the Rattlesnake Creek location.
  2. Give the McReady player 1 silver dollar token; the McReady player must place it in front of himself. The Colti player starts the game with no money.
  3. Place the remaining 3 silver dollar tokens on the table to form a common supply.
  4. Shuffle the Frontier deck and place it within reach of both players.

How to Play

The Frontier deck is used by both players: either side may play firepower cards, and action cards may help or thwart the plans of either player.

Cards from the Frontier deck are used exactly like the cards of the base game and of any expansion. Each card may be played on its own, or it may be used as the payment for bringing another card into play. Frontier cards are distinguished from the cards of the other two decks by their card back, so they can be easily sorted when preparing for the next game. During play, however, you hold these cards in your hand together with the others.

Whenever you discard a Frontier card for any reason, place it in a separate discard pile. Cards from that pile cannot be returned to the game in any way.

How do you take cards from the Frontier deck?

Frontier cards are "bought" during the Place cards phase of your turn. At any moment of your turn you may buy a card from the Frontier deck by returning one of your silver dollar tokens to the common supply. You may buy as many cards as you have tokens for, at a price of 1 dollar per card.

How do you earn dollar coins?

At the end of the Attack phase, the player who lost the shootout takes one dollar "coin" from the common supply and places it in front of himself.

Red poker chips

The firepower value of Frontier firepower cards is shown on red poker chips. When interacting with other cards, these poker chips may be counted both as white and as black poker chips.

Clarification: with the "Saddlebags" card, you can take back only your own cards with red poker chips.

Sheriff stars

All Frontier firepower cards carry sheriff star symbols. This does not mean that only the sheriff may play them. The symbol shows that Frontier firepower cards may be attacked by both players.

Dollars from Rattlesnake Creek

When the Colti player moves the turn marker onto the first space of the Rattlesnake Creek location, he takes both dollar coins lying there, keeps one for himself and gives the other to his mortal enemy.

Supply of dollar coins

If the common supply of "dollars" is empty, no player can receive a "silver dollar" from it, even if he is entitled to draw a token. Tough luck, buddy!

Rule for the Greedy Player

In the Draw two cards phase, a player may not draw more than one card if he has 4 or 5 dollars. A player who has 6 dollars may not draw any cards.

Module B: Building Your Own Deck

The base game decks come already assembled and ready to play. However, if you have enough playing experience, you may build your own deck that better suits your style of play.

Rules for Building a Random Deck

A. Each finished deck must consist of 62 cards. Take the deck from the base game, remove the cards you do not need, and replace them with equivalent cards from this (or another) expansion and/or promo cards.

B. Unique gunfighter cards may not be replaced.

C. You must replace an action card with another action card, a character card with another character card, and a firepower card with another firepower card. The cost of a card, its firepower value and its other symbols are not taken into account when replacing cards.

  1. Location cards may replace any of the base game cards, except unique gunfighter cards.

  2. Your deck may not contain more than one copy of each unique gunfighter card.

Empty Deck

If a player's deck runs out, shuffle that player's discard pile and form a new deck from it.

Note: the Colonel McReady card may not be shuffled back in; remove it from the game.

New Symbols

Some of the new cards carry new symbols:

Silver dollar: This means an additional price that must be paid to play the card. For each silver dollar symbol you must return one silver dollar token to the common supply. If you do not have enough tokens, you cannot play the card.

Example: The Colti player wants to play "A glint in the mountains" to remove an Ambush card lying at the Whiskey Canyon location. The price of this card is "discard 2 cards", and the card carries one silver dollar symbol. So to play this card, the player must discard 2 cards from his hand and return 1 silver dollar token to the common supply.

Random discard: To play a card with this symbol, the player must offer his opponent to blindly draw cards from the player's own hand and send them to the discard pile – as many cards as the number shown on the symbol of the card the player has just brought into play or used.

FAQ

Q1: Can the Lasso be used to place "Old Three Toes" on top of McReady's deck? A1: Yes. This is one of the few cases where a player may draw a Frontier card without paying a "dollar".

Q2: Colti played "Old Three Toes" at Whiskey Canyon, and I removed one of the bear's grit tokens with the card "Dang it!". When Colti uses "Old Three Toes" in the game again, will that token be placed on it or not? A2: The card "Old Three Toes" does not keep memory of previous rounds, so each time it enters the game it comes with a grit token. The vicious bear!

Q3: I have five cards in hand: three from Colti's deck and two from the Frontier deck (different card backs). When I play "Old Three Toes", does my opponent have the right to choose a card for the random discard by looking at the card backs? A3: Yes. Your opponent may, looking only at the card backs, choose any card he likes.

Q4: What is the use of the card "Jimmy Shaker – Judgement day preacher"? A4: First of all, it is used for bluffing. But, like any other card, it can also be used to pay for bringing another card into play.

Q5: The card "Prototype Davis Motor Wagon" has a scope icon. How does this work if the card is played by Colti? A5: In a game using the Frontier deck, the ability given by the scope icon applies to the player who plays the card. In this case, the McReady player must first destroy the Prototype Davis Motor Wagon.

Card List

The effect column reads from the Russian card list, with the icons taken from the page images. The sheet defines the red, black and white poker chips, the silver dollar, the sheriff star, the card icons and the random-discard symbol (see Module A and New Symbols). The other icons are not defined on the sheet and are kept as printed, named by their shape: "[bullet wound token]" is the dark red disc that the sheet places on Jack Colti, named as in Revolver 1-2, where the same icon is defined as the bullet wound token; "[gravestone icon]" is the kill-target icon; "[lock icon]" is the lock icon; "[scope icon]" is the crosshair icon; "[firepower token marked 1]" is the white ring token with a 1; "[black poker chip marked 2]" and "[red poker chip marked 0]" are numbered chips, as printed. The Earl Daggett card has no effect text on the sheet; its row is left blank as printed.
