Modules
This expansion is split into two separate modules:
- A. Ambush card and the Prison card: In addition to the base game, the ambush card gives Colonel McReady more strategic options. The Prison is an unusual new location with its own set of rules.
- B. Building your own deck: The new cards let both players build their own decks and explore new combat tactics.
Note: To use Module A you will need the expansion Revolver 1-1: Ambush on Gunshot Trail.
Module 1: Ambush Cards and the Prison Card
Setup
- Place the San Manzanillo Prison card between the Hawk's Nest and Rattlesnake Creek location cards. Place the Santiago bandit card under the San Manzanillo Prison card. Place the Prison information card on the table where both players can see it.
- The Colti player (below, simply "Colti") adds the two new bandit cards from Revolver 1-1: Ambush on Gunshot Trail to the rest of his gang.
- Add the new ambush card to the 6 ambush cards from Revolver 1-1: Ambush on Gunshot Trail, choose one of them at random, and return it to the box face down without looking at its face.
- The McReady player (below, simply "McReady") looks at the remaining 6 ambush cards and places one of them face down opposite each location, including the San Manzanillo Prison.
Gameplay with Module 1
Play follows the base-game rules with the following exceptions:
Ambush cards: During the first turn at each location, McReady opens the face-down ambush card in that location during the "Place cards" phase and shows it to Colti.
Following the normal rules, immediately apply the effect of the revealed ambush card: action cards are applied once and then discarded, while firepower cards remain at the current location.
Important: When an ambush card is destroyed or its action has been carried out, it is not discarded. Instead it is removed from the game. Return it to the box.
San Manzanillo Prison
The Prison counts as an ordinary location with respect to ambush cards, but in other respects it is absolutely unique:
- After leaving the Hawk's Nest location, Colti must decide whether to enter the Prison location or skip it.
- When moving cards to the next location, you may, if you wish, place them on the Prison (if it is the next location) or skip it and place the cards on the location after it, without any additional payment.
- The duration of the Prison location (one turn) cannot be changed.
- The Prison location does not provide additional firepower to either side.
- Neither side has a card limit at this location.
- Players may place only firepower cards on this location (except the Stick of Dynamite and Nitroglycerin cards). The cost of all cards played to this location is ignored, as are all effects of entering play and leaving play. Only firepower values are counted.
- None of the normal turn phases apply at the Prison location. All the normal phases are replaced by one special phase:
Prison Phase
The steps of this phase are carried out in the following order:
- Place one bullet wound token on Jack Colti.
- Colti draws 6 cards.
- McReady draws 3 cards.
- Resolve the ambush card at this location, following the usual rules.
- Colti places his first firepower card on this location first. McReady does the same. Either player may, on his turn, place one card or pass. The turn passes from one player to the other until both players pass.
Note: Either player may activate a card that has been moved to this location.
- Turn over the face-down cards with the lock icon and total the firepower of each side.
- If Colti's firepower is greater: add Santiago to Colti's gang.
- If McReady's firepower is greater: kill 2 bandits.
- If the firepower is tied: kill 1 bandit.
Note: If Colti uses the Stick of Dynamite card at the Prison location, add 3 to his firepower at this location. Nitroglycerin adds 5 to his firepower.
- Discard all cards from the Prison location (ignore all bronze tokens), leaving the location empty.
Module 2: Building Your Own Deck
The deck in the base game "Revolver" is already built and ready to use. But once you have gained some experience with the game, you may want to build your own deck, one that better suits your own style of play.
Preparation
Prepare for the game following the base rules. Use only the bandit character cards from the base game if you are not using the Ambush Cards module.
Deck-Building Rules
A. Each custom deck must consist of 62 cards. Take the deck from the base game, remove the cards you do not need, and replace them with equivalent cards from this (or another) expansion and/or promo cards.
B. Unique cards (see the FAQ below) may not be replaced.
C. You must replace an "action card" with another "action card", a "character card" with another "character card", and a "firepower card" with another "firepower card". The cost of a card, its firepower and other icons are not taken into account when replacing cards.
New Icons
Some of the new cards carry new icons:
- Scope: When Colti uses a card that kills a [star icon] card, he must first destroy the card with the scope icon. If there are several cards with the scope icon, Colti chooses which one he shoots.
Example 1: McReady has just placed the card "Charlie Withers' First Deputy" (firepower "3") and "Pinkerton Marshal" (firepower "1" + [scope icon]) at the location "Whiskey Canyon". On his turn Colti places the card "Shoot Without Warning, Boys!". He would first like to kill "Charlie Withers", before dealing with the weaker enemy, but because of the scope icon on the card "Pinkerton Marshal" he must first remove that card. Bang! "Pinkerton Marshal" is discarded, leaving the good old "Charlie" to fight Colti's boys.
Example 2: The same situation as in the example above… but Colti places the card "Stick of Dynamite". First "Pinkerton Marshal" is discarded, and 2 points remain from the "Stick of Dynamite". The firepower of "Charlie Withers" is 3, so the 2 remaining points of the "Stick of Dynamite" are lost.
-
Lock: You may place cards with the lock icon face down on the San Manzanillo Prison before you reach that location, and also during a battle at that location. If you do so, you do not pay the card's normal cost and its effect does not apply. These are the only cards that you may place face down on the Prison location.
-
Bullet wound: Place such a token on the Jack Colti card. At the moment when a fifth such token would have to be placed on Jack Colti, McReady immediately wins the game!
Bullet wounds may be gained as a cost for using a card, on entering the Prison location, and through the effects of some cards (+ [bullet wound icon]). Some cards allow you to remove one bullet wound token (– [bullet wound icon]).
FAQ
Q1: Can the Quick Draw card be placed on the San Manzanillo Prison to add 1 to my firepower? A1: No. The normal turn phases do not take place at the Prison location, so no cards other than firepower cards can be placed on this location.
Q2: At my location Rattlesnake Creek there is a Charlie Withers card, under which lies the Brad Runyan – Undertaker card. If Colti uses the Dragged behind a Horse card to move Charlie to the previous location, does Brad move with him? A2: Yes. Brad Runyan always moves together with the character under which he lies.
Q3: Is Brad Runyan – Undertaker removed from the game together with the card under which he was placed? A3: No. The card under which he lies is returned to the box, and Brad Runyan himself is placed on the discard pile.
Q4: Can the Apache Scout card be placed on the Prison location in advance? A4: Yes. The same applies to the Cherokee Freedman card and similar cards. Their firepower is added to the player's total firepower at this location if Colti decides to enter the Prison location.
Q5: At the Hawk's Nest location I have a Stagecoach with two tokens. When I remove one token in order to move the Stagecoach, which location does it move to: Rattlesnake Creek or the San Manzanillo Prison? A5: You choose which location the Stagecoach moves to. Moving the Stagecoach to either of these two locations costs one token. Note, however, that the Prison is an optional location.
Q6: During the game I placed three Apache Scouts on the Prison location, so the total firepower of this location is 6. At the last moment Colti decides not to enter the Prison. What should I do? A6: Carry on with the game and forget your cunning plans! If you place many cards on the Prison location, Colti will be afraid to enter it, and will not free a strong member of the gang. But save your cards for the end of the game so that you do not get caught out.
Q7: If Colti does not enter the Prison location, what happens to the ambush card and the cards lying face down on that location? A7: They remain lying face down.
Q8: If Colti uses Nitroglycerin at the Prison location, does he receive a bullet wound token? A8: Yes.
Q9: Can Santiago be killed when an ambush card is played at the Prison location? A9: No! Santiago has not yet been freed from prison. Only members of Colti's gang can be killed in this way.
Q10: What are "unique cards"? A10: The unique cards are: Josie "Dead-eye" Logan, Charlie Withers' First Deputy, Quincy "Spider" Whitmore, Colonel Ned McReady, Elijah Hooker, Brady Logan, the Jackson Clan, Estella Morales, Douglas Mortimer, Captain James Barclay Mantooth and Brad Runyan – Undertaker.
Q11: I have another copy of this expansion. Can I use cards from both copies? A11: Yes, but remember that your deck may contain only one copy of a card with a unique name.

Notes on this card list:
- "It's too darn quiet…" is printed twice on the sheet, once under the Prison and once among Colti's cards, with identical text. The components list gives one ambush card. Both rows are kept as printed.
- The sheet's English column is used for card names. The Russian text spells the prison's name two ways ("San-Manzanillo" and "San-Mazanillo"); "San Manzanillo" follows the English column.
- "Hawk's Nest" and "Cherokee Scout" are translated from the Russian and do not appear in the base-game rulebook; check them against the base game. "Whiskey Canyon", "Rattlesnake Creek", "Gatling Gun", "Sandstorm", "Apache Scout", "Stick of Dynamite" and "Josie 'Legs' Newcombe" follow the base-game rulebook.
- The Russian FAQ's name for Josie Logan translates as "Sharpshooter". The base-game rulebook spells it "Dead-eye", which is used here. "Charlie Withers" follows the Russian sheet; the base-game rulebook spells it "Weathers".
- The bronze token (Sad Hill Cemetery, and the Prison phase clean-up step) is not named on the sheet and is kept as printed.
