Note: Every card in this expansion bears a rattlesnake icon, so these cards can be told apart from those in the base game.

Note: The Russian rules also describe two promotional cards, Elijah Hooker and Brady Logan, as limited-edition promos that were available through the pre-order programme and at Essen 2011. They are not part of the components list above.

Modules

This expansion is split into two separate modules:

  • A. Ambush cards: In addition to the base game, these cards give Colonel McReady more strategic options. They let him prepare an ambush at every location.
  • B. Building your own deck: The new cards let both players build their own decks and explore new combat tactics.

Note: The two modules may be used together in the base game at the same time.

Module 1: Ambush Cards

  1. The Colti player (below, simply "Colti") adds the two new bandit cards to the rest of his gang.
  2. Shuffle the 6 ambush cards, draw one at random, and return it to the box face down without looking at it.
  3. The McReady player (below, simply "McReady") looks at the remaining 5 ambush cards and places one of them face down opposite each location.

Gameplay with Module 1

Play follows the base-game rules with the following exceptions:

During the first turn at each location, McReady opens the face-down ambush card in that location during the "Place cards" phase and shows it to Colti.

Following the normal rules, immediately apply the effect of the revealed ambush card: action cards are applied once and then discarded, while firepower cards remain at the current location.

Important: When an ambush card is destroyed or its action has been carried out, it is not discarded. Instead it is removed from the game. Return it to the box.

Module 2: Building Your Own Deck

The deck in the base game "Revolver" is already built and ready to use. But once you have gained some experience with the game, you may want to build your own deck, one that better suits your own style of play.

Preparation

Prepare for the game following the base rules. Use only the bandit character cards from the base game if you are not using the Ambush Cards module.

Deck-Building Rules

A. Each custom deck must consist of 62 cards. Take the deck from the base game, remove the cards you do not need, and replace them with equivalent cards from this (or another) expansion and/or promo cards.

B. Unique cards (see the FAQ below) may not be replaced.

C. You must replace an "action card" with another "action card", a "character card" with another "character card", and a "firepower card" with another "firepower card". The cost of a card, its firepower and other icons are not taken into account when replacing cards.

New Icons

Some of the new cards carry new icons:

  • Red cube: For each cube drawn on the card, remove one token from the Mexico Border card.
  • Round black token marked "1" (additional firepower): Place one such token on this card. While this token is on this card, its firepower increases by one.

FAQ

Q1: Does the effect of the Tomahawk card apply to the Isabella Chastain card? A1: Yes, because Isabella is a bounty hunter.

Q2: Can I use the Pedro – The Organ Grinder's Monkey card if the Mexico Border card already has 14 tokens on it? A2: Yes, but you will not be able to add a token to the Mexico Border card. The maximum possible number of tokens on this card is 14.

Q3: How do I use the Chinese Fireworks card? A3: Use this card during your opponent's turn, when he plays a card from his hand. The effect of his card does not apply, and the card itself is sent to the discard pile. In this way you can cancel the effect of any card (action, firepower or character card). The normal cost of playing the card must still be paid, whether or not its effect was cancelled! If your opponent discards two additional cards (in addition to the cost of the card played), the effect of his card is not cancelled.

Q4: What are "unique cards"? A4: Unique cards are: Josie "Sharpshooter" Logan, Charlie Withers' First Deputy, Quincy "Spider" Whitmore, Colonel Ned McReady, Elijah Hooker, Brady Logan, the Jackson Clan, McManus b Schumacher, John "Black Elk", Isabella Chastain and Pedro – The Organ Grinder's Monkey.

Q5: Where does the Baldwin Sisters card go when it is discarded? A5: Place this card in Colonel McReady's discard pile.

Q6: I have another copy of this expansion. Can I use cards from both copies? A6: Yes, but remember that your deck may contain only one copy of a card with a unique name.

Card List

Icons in the effect column that the text layer does not carry were read from the page images. The "[hand icon]" marks the start of several effects; the sheet does not define it, so it is kept as printed. The grey star-shaped icon on "Dragged behind a Horse" is not defined on the sheet and is kept as printed. The bronze token on "Tomahawk" and the grey round icon on "McManus b Schumacher" are likewise undefined on the sheet and kept as printed. "[card icon marked 1]" and "[card icon marked 2]" are the card-count icons; the "2" icon is the "two additional cards" referred to in FAQ A3.

Notes on this card list:

  • "McManus b Schumacher" is printed this way on the English column of the sheet; it appears to be a typo for "McManus & Schumacher" (the Russian name is "McManus and Schumacher"). It is kept as printed.
  • The base-game names used here (Mexico Border, Express 3:15, Train Wreck, Sandstorm) are English renderings of the Russian names on the sheet, which gives no official English names for them; check them against the base-game rulebook.
  • The Russian term for the Grit tokens (extra life) is rendered as "Grit"; this is a translation choice, not an English printed term.
  • Elijah Hooker, Charlie Withers' First Deputy, Quincy "Spider" Whitmore, Josie "Sharpshooter" Logan and the Jackson Clan are named in the FAQ as printed in the Russian rules; their English spellings are rendered from the Russian and should be checked against the base game.
  • 4 Grit tokens (extra life)
  • 2 firepower tokens (Colti's gang)
  • Cancel any card your opponent plays, when it is played, unless he additionally discards [card icon marked 2].
