New Characters
Revolution! Anarchy includes six new bid cards with four new characters:
- Warden and Heretic: See Jail and Asylum.
- Governor: Add your cube to the board first, then add any opponent's cube to any open space. If there is only one open space, place your cube there.
- Anarchist: Gain the reward from any other space on the bid board as though you had won that space. This has no effect on the player who actually won the space, if any. (If you choose the Warden, reclaim a token from your Anarchist bid.)
The printed text on the four new bid cards is:
| Character | Printed text |
|---|---|
| Warden | Four Support. Reclaim one token. Add an opponent's cube to Jail. |
| Heretic | One Force. One Blackmail. Influence Asylum. |
| Governor | Influence any open space. Add any opponent's cube to any open space. |
| Anarchist | Gain the reward in any other space. |
New Areas
Revolution! Anarchy includes one board overlay to be placed in the center of the board. This overlay contains three new areas: the Jail, the Asylum, and the Garden.
Jail and Asylum
If you win the Warden, take four Support and reclaim one token from your bid for use next turn. Place an opponent's Influence cube (your choice) in the Jail. If the Jail is full, replace one cube that is already in the Jail.
If you win the Heretic, you get a Force and a Blackmail, and you must place one of your cubes in the Asylum; if all spaces in the Asylum are full, replace an opponent's (your choice) cube with one of your own, if possible.
At the end of the game, the Jail and Asylum each give a penalty of -30 Support to the player who has more influence cubes there than anyone else. (Score these spaces after the areas with positive Support bonuses.) If two players are tied for most influence, the area does not score for either one.
Garden
No bid spaces specifically give you influence in the Garden; you must use the Governor (or Anarchist, emulating the Governor) to place a cube there.
Each cube in the Garden gives its player 10 Support at the end of the game. It is not "winner take all" like the other spaces.
Clarifications
Rules that refer to "open spaces" mean spaces with no cubes. Even though cubes can be replaced in the Asylum and Jail, only those spaces with no cubes at all are considered "open."
A penalty that would reduce a player below 0 Support drops them to 0.
What About The Palace?
This is the second six-player expansion for Revolution! The two expansions are not designed to be used at the same time, so we don't have rules for an eight-player game.
