When can I open or look at a crate, and can I open it after my second action?
The rulebook says crates may be looked at any time and opened at any time during your turn.

You may look at your own closed crates at any time and open any number of them whenever you like during your turn, including after your second action. Resources from a crate that gives two can go into storage if you have room; you do not need to open crates in a fixed order.
