- 88 tiles in 5 colors, 17 of each color: number tiles:
- 15 tiles with the values 1-15
- 1 tile 16 STOP
- 1 tile 16 RESTART
- 2 SCISSORS tiles
- 1 TRASH CAN tile
- 4 screens
Setup
At the start of each round, place all tiles in the middle of the table. Depending on the number of players, set up the game as follows:
-
4 players: 22 tiles per person. Place all tiles face down in the middle of the table, shuffle them well and deal them out evenly among yourselves.
3 players: 29 tiles per person. Set all tiles with the value "1" aside. Shuffle the remaining tiles well, face down. Put one tile back into the box without looking at it. Shuffle the 1 tiles face down back in among the other tiles. Now deal all the tiles lying in the middle of the table out evenly among yourselves.
2 players: 30 tiles per person. Place all tiles with the value "1" face up, one under another, in the middle of the table as the start of five rows. Shuffle the remaining tiles well, face down, and put 23 of them back into the box without looking at them. Deal the remaining tiles out evenly among yourselves.
-
Each person sets up one screen in front of them and places their tiles behind it so that the others cannot see them. Now turn all tiles face up.
Tip: For a better overview, you can sort your tiles by color and ascending values.
-
Whoever has 1 tiles places them face up, one under another, in the middle of the table as the start of five rows. Then, depending on the number of players, the person who starts is:
- 4 players: the person who placed the red 1.
- 3 players: the person who placed the red 1.
- 2 players: chosen at random.
Tip: Do you have trouble telling the colors apart? Look at the symbol in the lower right corner. This also lets you tell the 6 from the 9!
Gameplay
You play in turn, clockwise. On your turn, you place one or, if possible, several of your tiles at the end of a row in the middle of the table. You must observe the following rules:
- You can only place tiles in the row of matching color. That means a row never contains tiles of different colors.
- You can only place tiles in ascending order. The number value of a tile must therefore be higher than the value of the last tile in that row. The values do not have to follow each other directly.
- In the same turn you may place two or more tiles if they have the same color and their values follow each other directly (a run, "Straße").
- If you cannot or do not want to play a tile, you must pass. You may place tiles again in a later round if you can.
Then your turn ends and the next person is up.
Example
A) Annika had the red 1 and starts the round. She may place in any row and decides on the blue 8.
B) Next it is Elias's turn and he places a run in the green row: 10, 11 and 12.
C) Sofia would most like to have played her blue 2 and 3 as a run. But since the 8 already lies there and the tiles must be placed in ascending order, Sofia cannot place them at the moment. Instead she plays the orange 4 and 5.
Special Tiles
16 STOP: Place this tile either on its own or as the last tile of a run. It has the value 16. This tile ends the row; no further tiles can be placed in this row, unless it is later removed from the row again by a Scissors or a Trash Can (see below).
16 RESTART: Place this tile either on its own or as the last tile of a run. Announce that you have placed a RESTART tile. When placed, it has the value 16. But as soon as it lies in the row, it takes on the value 0, so that afterwards a tile of the same color with any value can be placed.
SCISSORS (2 in the game): When you play a Scissors, you remove the last tile placed in any row of your choice (only 1 tiles may not be removed). Put the removed tile back into the box together with the Scissors. Afterwards you may immediately place a further number tile or a run in the same row in which you used the Scissors.
TRASH CAN (1 in the game): When you play the Trash Can, you remove all tiles after the 1 in any row of your choice. Put the removed tiles back into the box together with the Trash Can. Afterwards you may immediately place a further number tile or a run in the same row in which you used the Trash Can.
Note: You may never play two purple tiles in the same turn. Also, you may only play a Scissors or the Trash Can if you can remove at least one tile.
Example of Special Tiles
A) Later in the game, Elias places the green 16 RESTART.
B) Then it is Sofia's turn and she places a run of three tiles: the orange 14, 15 and 16 STOP.
C) Matteo is up and places a run of the gray 15 and 16 RESTART. His turn ends with that.
D) Annika is up again: thanks to the 16 RESTART, which now counts as a 0, Annika can place her run of the gray 4, 5 and 6.
E) Elias plays a Scissors. He removes the last placed tile from the orange row (the 16 STOP) ... and decides to continue his turn. He must place in the orange row and decides on the orange 16 RESTART.
F) Sofia plays the Trash Can. She removes all blue tiles after the 1 (8, 12, 14, 15) ... and decides to continue her turn. She must place in the blue row and decides on the blue 2 and 3.
End of a Round
The current round ends when you have all passed one after another once. Add up the minus points you receive for the tiles remaining behind your screens (see the overview below). Note down your minus points and then prepare the next round like the first.
Scoring
Minus points per tile:
- Tiles 1-15: minus points equal to the number value.
- 16 STOP / 16 RESTART: 16 minus points each.
- Scissors / Trash Can: 20 minus points each.
Example
At the end of the round, everyone still has tiles left. They receive the following minus points:
- Annika: 2 = 2 minus points
- Elias: Scissors (or Trash Can) + green 4 = 20 + 4 = 24 minus points
- Sofia: 7 + 16 (RESTART) = 23 minus points
- Matteo: 12 + 14 + 16 (RESTART) = 42 minus points
End of the Game
You play as many rounds as it takes until one person has reached 100 or more minus points. Whoever has the fewest minus points at that time wins.
The game also ends immediately if someone manages to get rid of all their own tiles in a round. That person wins, regardless of how many minus points you have each accumulated in earlier rounds.
