Components
100 cards, divided into 10 categories (see the end of the rules) of 10 cards each.
10 Game Aid cards summarizing each category in detail.
The categories are: Animals, Jewelry, Candies, Fruits, Cakes, Monsters, Monuments, Music, Plants, and Vehicles.
Tip
For younger players, play with fewer than 10 categories to make the game easier (choose 4 to 8 categories).
Goal of the Game
Identify as quickly as possible the cards of the same category to win the most points.
Category examples shown in the rules: Plants, Cakes, and Music.
Setup
The cards are shuffled and dealt face down, as evenly as possible, among the players to form their draw piles. The remaining cards are returned to the box.
Example setup for a 4-player game.
Gameplay
1. Card Reveal
The players count up to 3, then simultaneously turn over the top card of their draw pile and place it in the center of the table.
With 2 players, each player makes 2 draw piles and turns over 2 cards at the same time.
2. Visual Search
All at once, the players frantically look for two or more images that belong to the same category.
When a player finds images of the same category, they call out the category name aloud (or shout it) and show the cards concerned. If the player is right, they take all of these cards. If the player is wrong, they must stay silent until the next turn.
Example: four cards are in play. Player 3 calls "FRUITS!" after spotting three fruit cards.
It is entirely possible for one or several players to identify several categories in a row. Never stop carefully looking at the cards in play. Very often, categories will chain together in a cascade.
Remark: Only announcing the correct category aloud validates the gain of the cards concerned. Touching them is not enough.
Special case: When several players say the name of the same category at the same time, they share the cards. Extra cards are discarded.
Example: if 2 players find 3 cards of the same category at the same time, each of them gets one card, and the last card is discarded.
3. Card Renewal
Cards that do not share a common category remain in the center of the table. A new turn begins: the players count up to 3 again and simultaneously turn over one card from their draw pile, placing it next to the cards already in play.
End of the Game
When all the cards have been played, the player who has collected the most cards wins the game.
In case of a tie, the tied players share the victory.
Variants
1. The Cascade
Each player has 2 face-down stacks of cards in front of them.
Each player turns over their 2 cards at the same time, face up. As in the base game, the players look for cards of a common category.
In return, when cards are added, they are placed on top of the previous ones (covering them). When cards are won and removed from the game, the face-up cards that are revealed may also be won, which can cause a chain reaction.
2. The Foutoir (The Heap)
Each player chooses a different category.
All the cards are spread out face up, at random, on the table. The goal is to build, in front of you, a complete collection (10 cards) of the chosen category as quickly as possible.
At the start, the players quickly and simultaneously take the cards that match their category. The first player to gather the 10 cards of their category is declared the winner.
3. The Foutoir for Pros
All the cards are spread out, at random, face up on the table. The goal is to build, in front of you, as quickly as possible, a collection of 10 cards in which each card belongs to a different category.
At the start, the players quickly and simultaneously take one card per category (1 per category). The first player to reach 10 cards is declared the winner.
