Who chooses where Vanguard's return damage lands?

Your opponent chooses. The hit-back is ordinary damage on your cards, so it can only hit an unprotected card, and it doesn't have to hit Vanguard. It happens immediately during your turn, and if your own damage destroys their last camp, you win before they get to hit back.
