Object of the Game
- In each round, to write a Query Ending that other players will choose as the correct answer.
- In each round, to select the correct Query Ending from those read aloud by the Query Master.
- To be the first player to reach the space marked FINISH on the game board.
Preparation for Play
- There are two sides to each Query card - choose whether you are playing from the white or blue side for this round. Each player receives a dry-erase board on which to write Query Endings, and initials the corner of the board. Each player selects a playing piece and places it on the space marked START on the game board. The player whose birthday is next is the first Query Master.
Playing the Game
- The Query Master draws a Query card from the Query box. The Query Master reads the Query Beginning aloud. Start a timer - we suggest giving players 90 seconds to submit answers.
- Each player writes the Query Beginning, as read by the Query Master, on his/her white board and then composes a Query Ending on the white board, hoping to have his/her Query Ending chosen as the correct answer.
- While the players are writing their Query Endings, the Query Master chooses a Query Ending from one of the four provided on the game card and writes that Query Ending on his/her white board.
- When the time is up, players hand their boards to the Query Master. The Query Master collects the boards and reads the Query Endings aloud to the players, his/her selection included.
NOTE: If any of the Query Endings are similar or the same, the Query Master still reads them out loud.
NOTE: If the Query Master receives TWO Query Endings that match the correct answer, the round is cancelled and a new Query card is drawn from the game box by the same Query Master.
- Moving clockwise from the Query Master, each player guesses which Query Ending he/she believes to be the correct one. The Query Master keeps track of the responses on the tracking board.
- After all the players have guessed, the Query Master reveals the correct Query Ending.
NOTE: If one of the Query Endings matches the one chosen by the Query Master, refer to Scoring Instructions below (point 3).
- The scores are totalled. Each player, beginning with the player to the left of the Query Master and moving clockwise, moves his/her game piece one space for each point earned.
- Moving clockwise, a new Query Master continues play in the same manner.
Scoring
- A player receives one point each time another player chooses his/her Query Ending.
NOTE: If two players write a Query Ending that is the same (or similar), and that Query Ending is chosen by another player, points are awarded to both creators.
- A player receives two points if he/she chooses the correct Query Ending.
- A player receives three points if he/she composes a Query Ending that is the same or similar to the Query Ending selected by the Query Master.
- The Query Master receives three points if his/her Query Ending is not chosen.
Optional Play (Calling a Player's Bluff)
When guessing which Query Ending is the correct one, in an attempt to fool or bluff the other game participants a player may choose his/her own Query Ending. If immediately after choosing his/her own Query Ending that player's bluff is called, the player who called the bluff receives two points and the "bluffer" is knocked out of that round and collects no points. If a player calls "bluff" but is incorrect, he/she is knocked out of that round but still collects points if his/her Query Ending is chosen.
