Game Materials

  • 1 dice cup
  • 3 dice: 1 color die, 1 pink blotch die, 1 special die
  • 4 bars of soap
  • 1 jam jar
  • 24 pig tiles: 6 each with green, yellow, blue and red jam blotches

Set-up

Put the jam jar in the middle of the table.

Shuffle the pig tiles well and form a draw pile with the jam blotches face down. Draw twelve of them and place them with the blotches facing up as a square around the jam jar, with each pig looking at the next pig in clockwise order.

Put one bar of soap next to each side of this "pig square." Sit in such a way that each of you is on a different side of the square.

If you have done everything right, now three pigs are looking at you, viewing the soap on "your" side of the square.

How to Play

All of you play simultaneously. Choose a player to roll all three dice using the dice cup. The result of this roll shows you which pig now has to be cleaned. Each of you then tries immediately to be the first to find this pig! But don't give away to the other players which pig it is; instead, try to be the fastest to grab the soap that the desired pig is looking at. If you succeed, you become the sticky-piggy-scrubber of the game round.

Note: Never grab the desired pig; grab the soap it is looking at!

Here's how the dice lead you to the desired pig:

  • The color die determines the color of the blotches on the pig.
  • The blotch die indicates how many blotches the pig needs to have, but:
  • The special die changes the result of the blotch die by one blotch more (+1) or less (-1). Only if it shows "=" is there no change to the result of the blotch die.

Attention:

  • One minus one is actually zero. But since there is no pig with zero blotches, in this case you look for the pig with six blotches.
  • Six plus one is actually seven. But since there is no pig with seven blotches, in this case you look for the pig with one blotch.

The desired pig is not there!

If the correct pig is not available, look instead for the red-blotched pig with the same number of blotches. The player who grabs the soap that this pig is looking at becomes the sticky-piggy-scrubber of the round.

Note: The color die has no red side.

The red-blotched pig isn't there either!

If the red-blotched pig with the desired number of blotches isn't showing either, each of you tries to be the fastest to grab the jam jar. The player who succeeds becomes the sticky-piggy-scrubber of the round.

Well done, sticky-piggy-scrubber!

If you are the first to grab the correct item, you become the sticky-piggy-scrubber of the round. Now there are three possibilities:

  1. The desired pig is looking at you. Take the pig, clean it (flip the tile to its back side) and put it that way in front of you! After that, place another pig from the draw pile on the now-vacant spot so that it looks at the next pig in clockwise order (as in the beginning of the game).
  2. The desired pig is looking at a different player. Turn the pig so that it is now looking at you.
  3. You have correctly grabbed the jam jar. Turn any one pig so that it is looking at you.

Made a mistake?

If you have grabbed the wrong item,

  • you may not grab a second time.
  • you may not grab anything in the next round, i.e. you skip a round. However, this rule doesn't apply in the two-player game.

The Next Game Round

The new game round starts as before with one of you rolling the dice.

End of the Game

If one spot in the pig square remains empty because the draw pile has been used up, the game ends immediately. The player who has been able to clean the most pigs (i.e., put them in front of him) wins. In the case of a tie, all sticky-piggy-scrubbers with the most cleaned pigs win.

Young sticky-piggy-scrubbers (ca. 7 years old)

Young sticky-piggy-scrubbers can play without the special die (=; +1; -1). The other rules remain unchanged.

Very young sticky-piggy-scrubbers (ca. 6 years old)

If you are very young sticky-piggy-scrubbers, you can play without the special die (=; +1; -1) as well as without the pigs with the red jam blotches. For this, set up the game with only eight pigs so that two pigs each are looking in the same direction. The other rules remain unchanged.
