Game Idea
In every round you must secretly answer a very private, sometimes even highly explosive question. Afterwards you try to estimate as precisely as possible how many of you answered the question with "Yes". Whoever predicted the correct number of Yes answers gets three points. Whoever was off by only one answer gets one point. The winner is whoever has the most points after 15 rounds.
Keep the following in mind while playing:
First: No matter how explosive the question is, please answer honestly, so that the fun of the game and the communication around the game are not spoiled.
Second: Do not worry about your privacy while playing, because you answer the questions secretly -- and what is secret stays secret!
If you own Privacy, Privacy 2 or Privacy - Scharf wie Chili (Privacy - Hot as Chili), you can also use the Quickie question cards there (or vice versa).
Components
- 90 question cards: on the fronts there are four questions each. The backs show a number from 1-4.
- 72 answer cards: 36 cards with YES, 36 cards with NO
- 1 score pad
Setup
Shuffle the question cards and place them as a face-down draw pile in the middle of the table. Next to it, a discard pile will form during the game.
Separate the answer cards into YES and NO. Deal three cards from each pile to each of you, so that each of you has three YES and three NO cards.
Tip: Shuffle your answer cards once more before the game, so that the others do not know where the YES and NO cards are in your hand.
Form a pile from the surplus answer cards and shuffle it briefly. Place the pile face down as a supply next to the question cards in the middle of the table.
Note: During the game you can take new answer cards from the supply at any time, so that you always have enough YES and NO cards in hand.
Enter your names on the score pad. During the game you note on the pad both your guesses and the points you scored.
Course of Play
In every round you carry out the following six actions one after another:
1. Reveal a Question Card
Whichever of you most recently petted a rabbit will read the first question aloud. If that is you, take the top question card of the draw pile. Read aloud, loudly and clearly, the question that corresponds to the number on the now-topmost face-down card of the draw pile. Afterwards, place the card face up on the discard pile.
Example: Peer takes the top question card from the pile. The next card of the pile shows the 2. Peer reads out the 2nd question on the drawn card. Afterwards he places it on the discard pile.
2. Answer Secretly
Caution: Take good care that nobody can see which answer card you choose.
Each of you answers the question just asked secretly, but honestly. To do this, each of you places either a YES or a NO answer card from your hand face down in the middle of the table.
Example: Christine answers "No". She takes one of her NO answer cards and places it face down in the middle of the table with the other answer cards.
3. Estimate
Each of you must now estimate how many of you answered the question asked with "Yes". Beginning with the person who read out the question, you name your guesses one at a time, going around, and note them in the left-hand column below your name on the score pad.
Important: To prevent an unwanted outing, you may neither guess "0" nor the number that equals the number of players. With eight players, for example, you may guess neither "0" nor "8".
Example: Peer answered the question with "No" but thinks that three people in total answered with "Yes". He says "3" loudly and clearly. Tim guesses "4". Emma guesses "2". Mona guesses "6", etc.
4. Resolve
Now shuffle the face-down answer cards on the table well. Then turn them face up.
Example: After Peer has shuffled all the answer cards, he turns them over. Four YES and six NO cards come to light.
5. Award Points
Now compare your guesses with the revealed answer cards and note your scored points on the score pad:
- Whoever guessed exactly right gets three points.
- Whoever was off by exactly one Yes answer gets one point.
- All others get no points.
Note your achieved points in the right-hand column below your name on the score pad.
Example: Peer guessed three Yes answers. He was off by exactly one Yes answer and therefore gets one point. Tim's guess was exactly right and he gets three points. Emma and Mona were each off by more than one answer and get no points, etc.
6. Prepare the Next Round
Put the answer cards just revealed into the supply in the middle of the table and shuffle the pile briefly.
Caution: If you no longer have enough answer cards in hand, you should take new cards from the supply at the latest now.
Now you begin the next round, in which the next person clockwise reads the next question aloud.
End of the Game
The game ends after the 15th round. Add up your points and enter the sum in the box under the column with your name on the score pad. Whoever has reached the most points wins. In case of a tie you share the victory.
Notes
Especially with the very explosive questions you should make sure that nobody can see which answer cards you place in the middle of the table.
Do not expose anybody and do not force an outing! Otherwise there can, should and of course will be discussions about the questions and about the number of Yes answers, which makes up a considerable part of the fun of the game.
In a game with four players it is sometimes advisable not to ask one or another explosive question. Otherwise, speculation can very quickly arise about who in this small group might have answered "Yes".
One more tip: If your group agrees, you can also simply always choose one of the four questions on the cards and read that one aloud.
