Setup

At the start of the game, each player receives one character/killer card and five different action cards.

Place all the blood markers (cubes) in the center of the table, within reach of everyone.

Before starting, the player who watched a horror film most recently takes the role of the killer for the first round. That player turns their character card over to the killer side, showing the hideous figure of ESCALPO.

Playing

"Por favor, não corte minha cabeça!" is played in games of 3 to 6 rounds. The number of rounds varies according to the number of players, with one round per player. During the game, players are killers for one round and survivors in the others. Each player controls the actions their characters take each turn, trying to escape the killer in order to stay alive.

The game ends at the end of the round in which all players have been the killer once. The player with the most blood markers collected during the game is the winner.

In addition, "Por favor, não corte minha cabeça!" can be played in three different modes, known as:

  • Basic mode
  • Intermediate mode
  • Essential mode

Despite having three game modes, "Por favor, não corte minha cabeça!" is not a complex game, so we suggest you play all the modes to decide which one is your favorite. But if you want to get the most out of the game, we suggest the Essential mode!

Basic Mode: "A New Beginning"

"Por favor, não corte minha cabeça!" is a simultaneous action selection game. In the game, at the start of each round, all players have the same five actions, which are:

  • "Make out in the tent"
  • "Canoe on the lake"
  • "Buy food"
  • "Meditate on the mountain top"
  • "Tell stories around the campfire"

During the game, the survivors' objective is to escape the killer ESCALPO, while the killer's objective is to pursue the survivors to kill them.

At the start of each round there is always a new killer, and the survivors must fill the empty squares in the bottom part of their character cards with blood markers (cubes) available in the center of the table. Each survivor will have three cubes at the end of filling the empty squares. The killer does not take cubes from the center of the table.

Each round is composed of 3 turns. In each turn, the survivors select 1 action from their hands, while the killer selects 1, 2 or 3 actions from their hand, depending on the turn played.

Turn #1

In the first turn, the survivors select one action card, while the killer also selects a single action card from their hand.

All players place the chosen cards on the table, face down. After all players have chosen and placed their cards, they are revealed by turning them face up, and then the Conference Phase begins.

Conference Phase

Whoever has made the same action as the killer will have been targeted by ESCALPO, thus handing over one of their blood markers to the killer. The player representing ESCALPO receives the blood markers from all the survivors that it hit during that turn, and places them to the left of its character card, as indicated by the death icon.

The other players, who selected an action different from the one selected by the killer and managed to escape, take one of their blood markers and place it to the right of their own character card, as indicated by the survival icon.

At the end of the Conference Phase above, the players take their action cards back and proceed to Turn #2.

Turn #2

Turn #2 begins the same way as Turn #1. The survivors select one action card from their hand, while the killer, this time, selects two action cards from their hand. All players place their chosen cards on the table, face down. After all players have chosen their cards and positioned them, they are revealed face up.

Again the Conference Phase (page 5) begins, and at its end the players take their action cards back and proceed to Turn #3.

Turn #3

Turn #3 begins the same way as Turn #1 and Turn #2. The survivors select one action card from their hand, while the killer, this time, selects three action cards from their hand. All players place their chosen cards on the table, face down. After all players have chosen their cards and positioned them, they are revealed face up.

Again the Conference Phase (page 5) begins, and at its end the players take their action cards back and proceed to the next round.

New Round

At the end of Turn #3, the killer turns their card over to the survivor side and is now a survivor.

The player immediately to the left of the previous round's killer becomes the killer for this new round. All procedures carried out in the previous round must be carried out again, keeping the blood markers conquered in the previous round(s) with whoever conquered them.

End of the Game

The game ends when all players have represented the killer in a round. The player who has the most blood markers, adding those conquered as killer and those conquered as survivor, is considered the Grand Winner.

In case of a tie, the player who got more blood markers as the killer is declared the winner.

Intermediate Mode: "The Killing Continues"

The Intermediate mode has only one change in relation to the Basic mode: during the hand-refill phase, only the player representing the killer in that round takes back the cards played in the previous turn. The survivors must leave the card(s) played previously face up and visible on the table.

Thus, at the start of Turn #2, all survivors must have four action cards in hand and one action card face up just above their character, signaling that the player no longer has that action for the next turn. The killer must have five action cards in hand.

Consequently, at the start of Turn #3, all survivors must have three action cards in hand, plus two action cards face up just above their character. The killer must begin the turn with the five action cards in hand.

Essential Mode: "Blood Rain"

The Essential mode differs from the Intermediate mode in a single mechanic, which is the preferred action mechanic.

Each character has a preferred action, indicated by the icon at the top of their card. Each action card also has an icon at the top of the card, which exactly matches the icons of each character. For example, the preferred action of the character SERENA is "Meditate on the mountain top".

(Illustration caption: "Preferred action icon")

If, at any moment of any round, in any turn, a character survives by performing their preferred action, they must take an extra blood marker from the center of the table. Thus, by surviving by performing their preferred action, the survivor takes two blood markers in a single turn.

Exception

ZECA is the only character who does not have a preferred action defined, but rather has the ability to steal the preferred action of the character being used by the killer of the round.

For example, if the killer of the round is using the BOCÃO character card, ZECA will automatically have as his preferred action the action of BOCÃO: "Buy food".

Optional Rule: "It's Time for a Killing"

When playing the Essential mode, you may choose to use the "It's Time for a Killing" rule. In this case, in every round in which the killer manages to take all three blood markers from the same survivor, the killer takes one extra blood marker from the center of the table.
