Concept
"Pin Pon !" is a game of cooperation. You'll all need to work together to turn over the cards from the side showing busy traffic to the side showing open road, and clear the way for the fire engine. With every throw of the dice, players will either get to choose a coloured card to turn over and try to help the fire engine on its way – or they'll have to stoke the flames in the house…
Setting up
Place the fire station on one side of the table and the house on the other. Place the 12 cards at random to make two lines between the two buildings, with the car side facing up to form a full road of traffic. Place a fire token on the house and the other 6 to one side. Place the fire engine on the fire station and the dice to one side.
Playing the game
Play moves clockwise around the table. The youngest player goes first. They throw the dice and carry out the action it shows:
- Colour: The player chooses a car card in the colour shown and turns it over to the open road side (a two-tone car can be turned over if either of the colours are shown on the dice).
- Flame: The player adds a fire token to the house.
- Bell: Ding dong! The player turns over a car card of their choice to the open road side.
At the end of their turn, if the road in front of the fire engine is clear, the player moves it forward as far as they can.
If there is space, the fire engine can move between lanes to get around cars that are in the way.
Then it's the next player's turn to throw the dice and start a new round.
N.B.: This is a game of cooperation, so players can discuss which car cards to turn over together, but it's down to the player whose turn it is to make the final decision.
End of the game
When the fire engine reaches the house, it can put out the fire! You win the game – you're all heroes, well done!
However, if all 7 fire tokens have covered the house in flames, the fire has spread too far and there's nothing the fire engine can do... you lose the game!
