2 Player Rules

The two player game consists of 2 rounds with each player starting a round.

  • To set up the game both players get 2 sets of discs with values of 1 to 6.
  • The discs have two sides a plain side & a target.
  • A target showing on a disc means it is vulnerable to capture.
  • The plain side means it is safe.
  • Each player lays their 2 sets of discs out horizontally in front of them in the following way:
    • With a primary row laid out 1 to 6, (horizontally from left to right), with all the discs safe (plain side up).
    • With a secondary row laid out above the primary row, 6 to 1 with all discs unsafe (target side up).
    • i.e the 6 disc on the secondary row is directly above the 1 disc on the primary row, the 5 above the 2, etc. This set up prevents confusion later in the round as to what discs are primary or secondary.
  • On their 1st roll of the dice a player can only use the values to make the discs on their own secondary row safe (turn from target side to plain).
  • When each player has had their initial roll they can then use the values of each of the dice rolled on subsequent turns to either:
    • Turn an opponents disc from their primary or secondary row from safe to vulnerable
    • Turn one of their own discs from their primary or secondary row from vulnerable to safe
    • Take an opponents disc from their primary or secondary row if it is vulnerable
  • If two of a number is rolled a player may use them together to turn an opponents disc from plain to target and then take it.
  • When a disc is taken it is removed from play & kept by the player who took it as part of their score.
  • The round plays until one player loses all of the discs from their primary row.
  • The player that ends a round by taking their opponent's last disc from their primary row, adds all of their own discs left in play to their score. They also take all of the remaining discs that are left vulnerable by their opponent and add these to their score. Discs that are left safe remain with that player as part of their score.

3 or More Player Rules

Aim of the game: to collect as many points as possible by taking opponents discs and protecting your own.

However many players there are determines the amount of rounds per game.

(Eg if there are 3 players there are 3 rounds with each player starting a round.)

  • Each player gets a set of discs with values of 1 to 6.
  • To start the game each player lays their discs out horizontally in front of them from 1 to 6. All the discs must be showing the target side.
  • The target showing on a disc means it is vulnerable to capture, the plain side means it is safe.
  • Choose a player to start the game and they roll all 3 dice.
  • On the 1st roll only, each player can only use the values on the dice to make their own discs safe. So for example, if you roll 5,3,1 you can only turn your own 5,3,1 discs from the target side to plain to make them safe.
  • Each player takes their turn.
  • When each player has had their initial turn, they can then use the values of each of the dice rolled on subsequent turns to either:
    • Take another players disc if a target is showing (vulnerable)
    • Turn another players disc from plain to target (to turn it from safe to vulnerable)
    • Turn one of their own discs from target to plain (from vulnerable to safe)
  • So if a player rolls 4, 5, 1 they can use each number to either take discs of other players that show the target (vulnerable), turn an opponents disc from plain to target (safe to vulnerable) or turn their own from target to plain (vulnerable to safe).
  • If two of a number is rolled a player may use them together to turn an opponents disc from plain to target and then take it.
  • When a disc is taken it is removed from the game, and kept by the person who took it to form part of their score at the end of the round.
  • The round plays until someone loses all of their discs.
  • The player that ends a round by taking an opponent's last disc, then takes all of the remaining discs in play that are left vulnerable (including their own) and adds them to their score. Any discs that are safe remain with that player and are added to their score.

Optional Variant: Red Dice Rules

The red dice rules are a variant, optional rule.

Players decide at the start of the game whether they will play with the Peruke red dice rules or not.

The rules are essentially the same as the normal Peruke rules, but allows a player the option to add the value of the red die to one of the other dice values, to form a combined value.

For example, if a player rolls a 3 & 2 on the white dice & a 3 on the red die they can either:

  • Use the 3 values as what they are (3,2,3) or
  • Add the red die value to either (but not both) of the white dice (eg red 3 + 2 white to make a 5 or red 3 + 3 white to make a 6). This combined value can then be used on a 5 or 6 disc.

The red dice rules apply throughout the game including the starting roll.

The addition of the red dice to another is optional, it does not have to be used. For example if a player can't go with the 3 die values rolled but could with the addition of the red dice, it is their choice whether to play.

  • The values of the discs a player has collected are added together & recorded.
  • The player with the highest combined score from both rounds wins.
  • Each player then adds up the value of all of the discs that they have.
  • The game plays until there have been the same amount of rounds as players (eg. 4 players means 4 rounds).
  • A players scores from each round are added together & the highest combined score wins.
