Age

From 12 years.

Players

2 or more players / 2 or more teams.

Components

  • 100 cards, each with 10 hints
  • 1 scoring marker

Objective

Be the first player or team to score the highest number of points after 5 cards.

Preparation

We suggest that players read the category descriptions below carefully to help them connect ideas during play.

Categories

Each category should be understood as follows:

  • PERSON – any human being, living or deceased, real or fictional: characters (for example, Gasparzinho), professionals (astronaut), and groups of people.
  • MOVIE – in this special version, this category covers film titles (or famous film franchises) and iconic works of cinema.
  • THING – animals, inanimate beings, and items not found in the previous categories (for example, backpack); intangible and abstract concepts (for example, hiccup).
  • SHOW – TV and streaming series and serials (or famous series franchises), programmes, or titles of entertainment programmes in this format.

The hint cards must be shuffled. The scoring pointers must be set to 0 (zero).

Perfil Express Filmes e Séries was specially designed to make the game easier to play. The hints are numbered 1 to 10. Hint number 1 is the least revealing. Progressively, the following hints give information that makes the guess easier and easier.

For this reason, this version has some differences from the original Perfil rule.

Sample Card (Ordem das perguntas)

The booklet shows a sample SHOW card, titled "This is Us", with its ten hints listed in order. The hints are printed at very small size in the scan. Hint 1 is legible as: "It is a dramatic series with different timelines." The wording of hints 2 to 10 is not legible in the scan and is not transcribed here; the order of the hints (1 to 10) is the printed order.

How to Play

The game can be played by 2 players or by 2 teams.

The players decide among themselves who will start the game. The chosen player becomes the round's mediator. The mediator takes the first card from the pile and tells the other participants (opponents) the category of that card.

The mediator must read hint 1 and must follow the hint order in this version, which is mandatory: the next hint to be given is 2; then 3; and so on in sequence.

Guesses

After reading a hint, the player who is answering has the right to make a guess about the identity of the card, saying aloud who or what they think is depicted. If the player does not want to make a guess, they simply ask for a new hint.

Right and Wrong Guesses

When a player makes a guess, it can be right or wrong.

  • If the guess is right, the mediator returns the card to the bottom of the pile and moves the scoring marker's pointer (see Scoring). The opposing player then becomes the mediator.
  • If the guess is wrong, the mediator must read the next hint, giving the player the right to a new guess. There is no penalty for a player who makes a wrong guess.

Scoring

Each Perfil card is worth 10 points. In this version, only the person who guessed the card scores.

  • If they guess correctly on the first hint, they score 10 points.
  • If they guess correctly on the second hint, they score 9 points.
  • The score goes down by one point for each further hint, so a correct guess on the 10th hint scores 1 point.
  • If the player does not guess the card correctly by the end of the 10 hints, they do not score.

Example: if a player guesses the identity of the card on the seventh hint, they add four points.

Winner

The player or team with the most points at the end of 5 cards wins.

Remember that this version was designed to be played between two players or between teams.

Alternative Rules

Players may play without the scoring marker. In that case, whoever guesses the card keeps it. The player who accumulates the number of cards set at the start wins the game.

In this version, it does not matter how many hints were used.

If they wish, players may change the length of the game: fewer or more than 5 cards for each player or team in the contest, as they prefer.

Closing

Bom divertimento! (Have fun!)
