Game components

  • Game board
  • 5 cards
  • 5 dice
  • 5 snail meeples
  • 36 point tokens (18 x 1 point, 12 x 3 points and 6 x 5 points)

Goal of the game

Players draw one card each, which shows which two snails they will play, but they do not reveal them. During the game, players can move any snails, not just their own. The game ends when one of the snails reaches the last leaf. Players reveal their cards and earn points for the places occupied by their snails. Additionally, during the game you can earn points for landing any snail on mushrooms and for pushing other snails. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Game setup

  1. Place the board in the center of the table.
  2. Place the snails on the board on the start leaf. Regardless of the number of players, all five snails are in the game.
  3. Place the dice next to the board.
  4. Place the point tokens next to the board.
  5. Shuffle the cards and give one to each player. Return any unused cards to the box. Everyone checks what color snails they have on the card, but they do not reveal it to their opponents.

Gameplay

The player who most recently ate mushrooms (or the youngest player) starts and performs actions in the following order:

  1. Roll five dice.
  2. Choose any die and place it in front of them.
  3. Move the snail in the color of the selected die as many leaves as the die shows.
  4. Pass the remaining four dice to the neighbor on their left.

The next player then performs the same action, except that they only roll four dice and pass three dice. The next player rolls three dice and passes two and so on. When only one die is passed to a player, they collect all previously placed dice and roll five again.

Attention! Players can move any snails, not just their own.

Example: Maciek rolled five dice. He chooses the blue one that shows 4, puts it in front of him and moves the blue snail four leaves. Then he hands over the remaining four dice to Frank.

Snail symbol

If the player chooses a die with a snail symbol, they move the snail of that color two leaves. The die with the snail is not removed, but passed on with the rest of the dice.

Example: Franek rolled four dice. He chooses green with a snail symbol and moves the green snail two leaves. Then he gives four dice to Asia, including the die with a snail.

Earning points

Points are earned for:

  • Pushing another snail.
  • Ending a move on a mushroom.
  • Placing at the end of the game and being the first to finish (see "End of the game").

Pushing another snail

When a snail finishes a move on a leaf with one or more other snails, it pushes all of them back one leaf. For each snail pushed in this way, the player receives one point. They take the appropriate point tokens from the stack and place them in front of them.

Attention! When snails are pushed onto a leaf with other snails, nothing happens; they do not push them further.

Example: Asia has moved the purple snail 2 leaves. The snail ends its movement on a leaf with two other snails. These snails are both pushed back one leaf, so Asia scores two points because two snails were pushed.

Ending a move on a mushroom

When a player finishes the snail movement on a mushroom, they receive one point. No points are earned for snails that are pushed back to a mushroom.

Attention! On mushrooms, snails do not push.

Example: Franek moved a yellow snail to a mushroom. He earns one victory point. The green snail stays in place because there is no pushing on mushrooms.

End of the game

The game ends when one of the snails reaches the last leaf. You do not have to roll the exact number of pips. The player who moved the snail to the last leaf gains an additional point.

Then all players reveal their cards and check if the snails shown on them have scored:

  • 1st place: 5 points
  • 2nd place: 2 points
  • Last place: 3 points

When several snails are last, they all score. When all but the winning snails are on one leaf, they are treated as if they are in last place and not 2nd. Players add these points to those gained during the game. The player with the most points wins.

Game variants

  1. Play three rounds and add the scores after three rounds.
  2. After choosing a die with a snail, the player places it in front of them (as in the case of dice with eyes). Instead of moving forward, the player moves the snail of that color two leaves backwards. If the withdrawn snail finds itself on a leaf with other snails, it pushes them back one leaf, but does not score points for it. If the snail stands on the start leaf or the second leaf, you cannot choose the die with the snail symbol in its color because there is nowhere to move back to. No point is scored for moving the snail back to a mushroom.
