- 60 Kittens in 6 different colors

Setup
- Place the map in the center of the table.
- Put all the Animal tiles into the lid of the box, face down.
- Each player chooses a player color and takes the Cat board, Longship, Kittens and Big Cats of that color. Place your Kittens and Big Cats on your Cat boards. Check your special ability (explained on page 7).
- On the Cat board you find a shield in the top right corner. Each player finds their shield on the map and places their Longhip [sic] there together with one face up Animal tile and one Kitten or if they prefer one Big Cat. (No coins are dealt out and Special abilities are ignored during the Setup).
- Find the 2 red Victory cards and place them face up next to the map board. Shuffle the green and yellow Victory cards separately and place 2 green and 1 yellow face up next to each other (for other variants see page 8).
- The player who most recently petted a cat is the starting player. If you play multiple games in a row, the previous winner starts.
How to Win
The aim of the game is to fulfill one of the Victory cards next to the map board.
Example 1: You have collected 12 Silfr at the end of your turn, therefore you have fulfilled the Victory card "12 Silfr".
Example 2: You have the most Kittens or a Big Cat in a Region with 2 Pigs, one with 2 Sheep and 2 different Regions with 1 Cow in each. Therefore you have fulfilled the Victory card "2 Pigs, 2 Sheep, 2 Cows".
How to Play - One Turn in Short
During your turn you do the following in order:
- Journey with your Longship 1-3 step(s).
- If you want, draw 2 Animal tiles from the box lid, choose 1 to place next to your Longship or put both back to the box.
- Place Cat(s).
- Gain Silfr/Scrolls stated on the Animal tile. You are now Friends with that Animal on the tile.
- Victory check! Check if you have fulfilled any of the Victory cards. If you have, you have won!
Playing the Game
1. Journey with your Longship
At the start of your turn, Journey your Longship 1, 2 or 3 steps. Crossing a white line counts as 1 step. You can not cross a black line and you must end your Journey on a Land Region. Land surrounded by white/black lines are called Land Regions. The blue lines are Rivers and does not effect your Journey.
2. Draw and Place Animal Tile
If your Longship is in an empty Region or in a Region where you have a Friend and you want to, draw and reveal 2 Animal tiles. Place one of them face up next to your Longship in the Region. Return the unused one(s) back face down into the box lid.
3. Place Cat(s)
Place Cats next to your Longship. You can place 0, 1 or 2 of your Kittens or 1 Big Cat. You may if you want to, pick up all your Cats in the Region instead of placing any Cats.
Big Cats: If you place a Big Cat, return all Kittens from that Region back to each player's Cat board. A placed Big Cat cannot be moved again during the game. No new Kittens or Big Cats can be added to a Region with a Big Cat in it.
Why place Kittens? The player with the most Kittens becomes Friends with the Animal(s) on the Animal tile in the Region.
Why place Big Cats? The Big Cats are good to place if you want to become Friends with an Animal and at the same time be sure that no other player will try to befriend that Animal for the rest of the game.
4. Gain Silfr, Scrolls and Friends
When you have placed an Animal tile and at least 1 Cat in a Region you gain the Silfr and Scrolls shown on the bottom of the Animal tile. Put the Silfr and Scrolls next to your Cat board.
The Animal on the tile is now your Friend as long as you have the most Kittens or a Big Cat in that Region.
5. Victory Check
At the end of each player's turn you check if you have fulfilled any of the Victory cards. The Animals that you are Friends with on the map and the Silfr/Scrolls you have by your Cat board is what you count towards fulfilling any of the Victory cards to declare yourself as the winner.
If you have for example collected 12 Scrolls or 12 Silfr at the end of your turn, you win by fulfilling one of the red Victory cards.
The green and yellow Victory cards show a number of Animal icons. Be Friends with all the Animals on one card to fulfill that Victory card.
Special Abilities and Buffs
Special Abilities
Each Cat board has a special ability that only the player with that Cat board can gain the benefits from.
- BYGUL: Step up to 4 steps each turn.
- HUGINN: When you gain 1 Silfr, gain 1 more. If you gain 2 Silfr, you gain no additional.
- MUNIN: When you gain 1 Scroll, gain 1 more. If you gain 2 Scrolls, you gain no additional.
- SLEIPNIR: You may draw 3 Animal tiles instead of 2. You may only choose one to place on the map. Return the unused face down to the box lid.
- SÆHRÍMNIR: When you steal a Friend, gain the Siflr [sic] and Scroll on that Friend's tile. Stealing: You place more Kittens or a Big Cat to befriend an Animal that is already a Friend of another player. You gain its friendship, and the other player loses it.
- TRJEGUL: You have 3 Big Cats.
Variants
Buff - Optional Rules
Once during your turn you may Buff. A Buff is when you spend 2 Scrolls or 2 Silfr (not one of each) to make an action a bit stronger.
With one Buff you can:
- When you Journey, move 1 more step.
- When drawing Animal tiles, draw 1 additional. (You still choose 0-1, put the others back into the lid).
- When you place Kittens, place 1 more Kitten.
Victory Cards Variant
For a longer game with an increased tension on the map, play without the red Scroll/Silfr cards. Instead during setup reveal 2 green and 2 yellow Victory cards.
