Icons

  • Your Satchel: any Element
  • The Bank: Victory Points

Your Turn

Randomly select a starting player. Going clockwise around the board, each player completes the following four steps in order. After their turn is done, play passes to the next player. The game ends when all the Favor Tokens have been used, then the player with the most Victory Points wins.

1. Roll the Element Die

Start by rolling the Element Die. Collect 1 of each Element shown from the Bank and add them to your Satchel, which is the area below your Action Board. These will remain in your Satchel until used. There is no limit to how many Elements you can store.

2. Move Your God

All gods begin off the board. Each turn, you must move your god to a different City Tile (does not need to be adjacent). You cannot stay on the same City Tile from your previous turn and cannot occupy the same City Tile as another god. Gods may stand on Landscape Tiles or the Pit of Tartarus.

3. Perform an Action Column

On your Action Board, you have three Action Columns: the Place Action Column, Shift Action Column, and Lock Action Column. Each turn, you must perform one of these Action Columns. All actions must happen within the Range of your god.

"Range"

Your Range includes the City Tile your god occupies and the 8 City Tiles surrounding them. A City Tile with an opponent's god on it is not in your Range.

Range Example: The Range for Ares (black) is all the City Tiles with a black check mark. Aphrodite (purple) is on the City Tile northwest of him, so it is not in his Range.

"Elements"

As players perform their Action Columns, Elements will populate the City Tiles. Elements on City Tiles are unowned and can be used by any player. However, it's helpful to remember that the City Tile your god occupies is not within the Range of the other gods, preventing other gods from interacting with that City Tile and the Elements on it.

Place Action Column

"Place"

Take any Element from your Satchel and Place it on a City Tile in your god's Range. If there is no valid City Tile in your god's Range, return that Element to the Bank instead.

Reminder: You may not Place an Element on a City Tile occupied by an opponent's god.

Example: Ares chooses the Place Action Column on his turn. He Places a Red Element from his Satchel onto a City Tile in his Range.

Action restriction: This restriction applies to all actions.

Different Elements can never occupy the same City Tile.

Shift Action Column

"Pay"

From your Satchel, return any Element back to the Bank.

"Shift"

From a City Tile in your god's Range, take an Element and move it to a different City Tile in your god's Range.

Reminder: You may not Shift an Element from or to a City Tile occupied by an opponent's god.

Example: Ares chooses the Shift Action Column on his turn. He pays a Blue Element from his Satchel to the Bank, then Shifts a Green Element from a City Tile in his Range to a different City Tile in his Range.

Lock Action Column

"Full"

A City Tile is Full when it has 3 Elements on it. Some Demigod Abilities change the definition of Full.

"Lock"

This action turns the Elements on a City Tile into a permanent Landscape Tile. First, pay any 2 Elements to the Bank from your Satchel. Then, on a Full City Tile in your god's Range, add a Favor Token to the outline on the City Tile. Position the Favor Token so your god's icon is at the bottom. Take a Landscape Tile that matches the color of the Elements on that City Tile and place it on top of the Favor Token and Elements (so the Landscape Tile is stable and level). The Landscape Tile should cover the top half of the Favor Token so only your god's icon is visible.

Once a City Tile is Locked with a Landscape Tile, it cannot be changed or have Elements added to it. Gods may still occupy it.

The Pit of Tartarus cannot have Elements added to it and cannot be Locked with a Landscape Tile.

Reminder: You may not Lock a City Tile occupied by an opponent's god.

Example: Ares chooses the Lock Action Column on his turn. He pays a Blue Element and Green Element from his Satchel to the Bank, then adds a Favor Token to the Full City Tile in his range. He orients the Favor Token so his icon is on the bottom. Then, he adds the matching Mountain Landscape Tile over the Favor Token and Red Elements. Only Ares' icon is visible.

Resource Limits

Elements are an unlimited resource. If the Bank ever runs out of Elements, retrieve Elements from under the Landscape Tiles to replenish the Bank.

Landscape Tiles are a limited resource. If a stack of Landscape Tiles is depleted, no more Landscape Tiles of that type may be Locked.

There is no limit to the number of Elements that can be on a City Tile.

4. Recruit a Demigod

You may Recruit 1 Demigod per turn. Demigods give you a permanent Demigod Ability for the rest of the game. From your Satchel, pay Elements matching the Element Cost at the top right of the Demigod Card.

A Demigod Card shows: Hoplites Gained (only used with the Monsters Expansion), Element Cost, the Demigod's Power, and the Demigod's Ability.

Place Demigods above your Action Board in the Action Column matching their color. Colorless Demigods are permanently placed in any Action Column. There is no limit to how many Demigods can be in an Action Column. Demigods in the same Action Column stack above each other, leaving their Abilities visible.

After you recruit a Demigod, refill the Demigod Market from the Demigod Deck. If the new Demigod matches one already in the Market, stack it on top of their match. Only the top card is available to be recruited and you may not recruit multiple copies of the same Demigod. After an Epic Demigod is recruited, the Epic Demigod that was under them becomes available. Do not refill empty spots in the Epic Demigod Market. Abilities that reference Demigods include Epic Demigods.

Demigod Abilities

Demigods add their Abilities to your Action Column. When you perform an Action Column, you must perform the Action on the Action Board and may also perform any/all of the Demigod Abilities in that Action Column. The Action and Abilities may happen in any order.

Abilities Example: Ares has recruited these Demigods so far and chooses the Shift Action Column on his turn. He chooses to perform both Demigod Abilities and must perform the Shift Action on his Action Board. He may perform them in any order.

  1. He removes the Green Element from a City Tile in his Range and returns it to the Bank.
  2. He adds a Blue Element from the Bank to a City Tile in his Range.
  3. He Pays a Green Element from his Satchel to the Bank to Shift a Blue Element from a City Tile in his Range to a different City Tile in his Range.

Scoring

When the last Favor Token is placed, that player may finish their turn, then the game immediately ends. Clear all the God Standees and Elements from the City Tiles to make scoring easier. The four ways to score Victory Points are summarized on the back of your Quick Guide.

Divine Plan

Reveal your Divine Plan and confirm that it is oriented to match the Pit of Tartarus. For each City Tile with a Landscape that matches your Divine Plan, score the number of Victory Points shown on that City Tile. (The City Tile does not need to have your Favor Token on it to score this way).

Favor Tokens

For each City Tile that has your god's icon visible on the Favor Token, score the number of Victory Points on that City Tile. (The Landscape on the City Tile does not need to match your Divine Plan to score this way).

Strongest Demigods

In each of your Action Columns, only the Demigod with the highest Power will score. Add their Power to your total Victory Points.

Ability Bonuses

Some Demigods award bonus Victory Points as their Ability. Add their points to your total Victory Points.

Ties are broken by the number of Landscapes that match your Divine Plan. If it's still tied, ties are broken by total Power of all the Demigods you recruited. If it's still tied, those players share the victory.

Scoring Example: Divine Plan: 14, Favor Tokens: 7, Strongest Demigods: 8, Ability Bonuses: 4, TOTAL: 33

  • When Locking any City Tile, it can have 2 Elements or 3 Elements on it to be considered Full.

Solo Mode

Objective

Kronos has escaped Tartarus and is determined to destroy the mortal world! He will spread his blight across the map, turning City Tiles into Pits of Tartarus. Assemble your Demigods to reshape the world and resist his destruction before it's too late!

Setup

Set up the game as usual with 12 Favor Tokens available. Place Kronos on the Pit of Tartarus and shuffle the Kronos Action Cards to create a face-down deck to draw from. Make a pile of Blight Tokens next to the other Element Tokens in the Bank. Remove the Pandora Demigod Cards if they are in the Demigod Deck.

Taking Turns

Similar to a 2-player game, you and Kronos will alternate taking turns with Kronos going first. Kronos has a unique mechanic that involves Placing his Blight Tokens on City Tiles. His Blight Tokens may be Placed on empty City Tiles, City Tiles with other Elements on them, City Tiles with Landscapes on them, and on Pits of Tartarus.

Kronos' Turn

1. Draw a Kronos Action Card.

Reveal the top card from his deck which will dictate the actions for his turn. If his deck is empty, reshuffle the discarded cards to restock the deck.

2. Roll to move Kronos.

Roll the Element Die, then find the matching City Tile on Kronos' Map. Move Kronos there. If he would move to the City Tile he already occupies, leave him there. If he would move onto the City Tile your god occupies, move him to the original Pit of Tartarus instead and skip the rest of his turn.

3. Spread Kronos' Blight.

Kronos will Place a number of Blight Tokens on City Tiles around himself. The grid on Kronos' Map shows which City Tiles Kronos may Place the Blight Tokens on, relative to himself in the center of the grid. You will decide how to distribute the Blight Tokens on the darkened areas of the grid. If there is no valid City Tile to Place any remaining Blight Tokens, those Blight Tokens are Placed on the City Tile Kronos occupies instead. Kronos may not Place Blight Tokens on the City Tile your god occupies.

Three Blight Tokens

If a City Tile ever has three Blight Tokens on it, all Blight Tokens, Elements, Favor Tokens and Landscapes on that City Tile are immediately removed and returned to the Bank. Then, that City Tile is flipped over to show a new Pit of Tartarus. Add a Favor Token to that Pit of Tartarus with your god's icon face down. If additional Blight Tokens still need to be Placed on that City Tile, Place them on the new Pit of Tartarus.

4. Kronos performs his Ability.

Carry out Kronos' Ability, applying the standard rules regarding a god's Range.

  • Some of his Abilities require Elements to be Placed. For each Element that cannot be Placed on a valid City Tile, a Blight Token is instead Placed on the City Tile that Kronos occupies. Reminder: Elements cannot be Placed on Pits of Tartarus or Landscape Tiles.
  • For all other cards, you must perform Kronos' Ability. If his Ability cannot be performed, a Blight Token is Placed on the City Tile that Kronos occupies instead.

Kronos' Turn Example:

  1. Kronos reveals this card for his turn.
  2. Kronos rolls Red/Green on the Element Die. You move him to the indicated City Tile.
  3. Kronos must Place 2 Blight Tokens. The only valid City Tiles are the ones to the top right and bottom right of his position. You choose to Place both Blight Tokens on the City Tile to his top right.
  4. For his Ability, Kronos must Place a Blue Element on a City Tile in his Range. You choose to Place it on this City Tile which does not match your Divine Plan.

Your Turn

On your turn, you will play following the standard rules of the game with these exceptions:

  • Anything that says you can Shift or Remove Elements may be used on Blight Tokens.
  • Locking a City Tile removes any Blight Tokens on that City Tile.
  • Anything that would cause other gods to Gain an Element will instead cause Kronos to Place 1 Blight Token on the City Tile he occupies.

Scoring

When the final Favor Token is placed, the game ends after that turn is finished. Kronos will not have his own score. Instead, he will reduce your Victory Points.

You will score in the same way as a multiplayer game, but you lose 1 Victory Point for each Blight Token on a Pit of Tartarus.

Result

Your outcome is dependent on how many Victory Points you scored. Read the scenario where you scored at least this number of Victory Points:

  • 55 — Kronos is imprisoned! The mortals sing your praise and prosper in their new world.
  • 48 — Kronos retreats, wounded. The scars of his blight will slowly fade as peace returns.
  • 41 — Kronos is rebuffed. The world thrives, but the threat of his return is on every mind.
  • 33 — Kronos is slowed. His tenuous foothold on the land is poised to grow if left unchecked.
  • 27 — Kronos rules the world. The mortals survive, but learn to live in fear of their new master.
  • <27 — Kronos reigns and assaults Olympus! The other gods voice their suspicion that you have been allied with Kronos all along...

Reminders

  • Your Range does not include City Tiles occupied by other gods.
  • You must move your god to a different City Tile each turn.
  • You must perform an Action Column each turn.
  • The Action on your Action Board is mandatory; Demigod Abilities are optional.
  • Demigod Abilities can only be used when performing the Action Column they are in.
