Setup
Set up as in a 2-player game, except that the AI has its own specific board.
The AI starts with 1 Hoplite and 1 Orichalcum nugget from its metropolis, plus the Titan shown on its board, placed on its inactive side.
Course of the Game
You always start the game, so the AI receives one extra Hoplite.
In each round, you play the 5 phases of your turn according to the base rules, as in a 2-player game. The AI plays according to its own rules.
AI Turn
On its turn, the AI also performs 5 phases:
- Select an Action card.
- Place a Terrain tile.
- Resolve the Action card.
- Play an extra Action.
- Discard an Action card.
These phases are adapted to how the AI operates, as described below.
Phase 1: Select an Action Card
Roll a combat die. The result indicates the card selected by the AI, counting from the left. Count skulls as 1.
If the die result is higher than the number of cards still in play, the AI takes the Action card that is available furthest to the right on the board.
Note: whichever card is selected, the AI never spends Hoplites to obtain it.
Phase 2: Place a Terrain Tile
Choosing the location. The AI's board is divided into 6 sectors of 6 different colours, numbered 1 to 6. The Terrain tile must be placed on a location of matching size, starting with the available sector with the lowest number.
Orientation of the tile. Tiles of 2 or 3 spaces are oriented according to the priority order shown at the top left of the board. The Terrain of a tile placed furthest left on the card must be the Terrain furthest left in the priority order.
[Figure: an example of the AI board, with sectors numbered 1 to 6 and the priority order shown.]
Example: since the 3-space locations of sectors 1 and 2 are already occupied, the next 3-space tile will be placed in sector 3.
Consequences of placing the Terrain tile.
- If the tile covers a brown arrow on the central space, the AI performs the bonus action shown (Produce Orichalcum).
- If the placed tile leads to the creation or expansion of an area of at least 3 identical Terrains, the AI gains the corresponding Titan.
[Figure: the brown arrow icon on the central space of the board.]
Note: the AI is polytheistic. It has no limit on Titans in its victory track, but it always takes Titans from their inactive side.
Phase 3: Resolve the Action Card
Produce Orichalcum. The AI gains one Orichalcum nugget for each Mine it possesses.
Recruit Hoplites. The AI gains one Hoplite for each Training Camp it possesses.
Build. The AI carries out one construction, following this priority order:
- An Orichalcum Medallion. Provided it spends 5 Orichalcum nuggets.
- A Temple. Provided a configuration of Terrains allows it (that is, with no adjacent Creature). If several spaces are available, the AI builds on the one furthest left on the card.
- A Building. The Building is chosen following the Terrain priority order shown on the board. It is not placed on a Terrain but on the available space furthest left on the bottom strip of the board: face up if it is a Mine or a Training Camp, face down otherwise. If this space shows an effect, apply it immediately!
Important: when the AI builds its 8th Building, and for each other Building it builds later, it gains an Orichalcum Medallion, bringing it closer to victory!
[Figure: an Orichalcum Medallion.]
Capture Creatures. The AI always begins by attacking the Creature furthest left on its board. If several Creatures are tied, it begins with the one highest on its board.
The AI always rolls the 4 dice and must obtain at least one skull to win.
- On victory, the AI gains the loot shown on the Creature, then engages the next Creature on its island, if one remains.
- On defeat, it spends one Hoplite and immediately restarts that combat.
The AI continues fighting until it no longer has any Hoplites or no longer has a Creature to fight.
Phase 4: Play an Extra Action
The AI performs an extra Action if it can spend, in this order of priority:
- two skulls, OR
- two Hoplites, OR
- two Orichalcum nuggets.
[Figure: the three icon pairs shown in this order: skulls, Hoplites, Orichalcum nuggets.]
The extra Action is chosen following the priority order shown on the side of the board:
- Combat... if at least one Creature is present on its island.
- Forge an Orichalcum Medallion... if it has at least 5 Orichalcum nuggets.
- Build a Temple... if it has the space to do so.
- Build a Building... respecting the Terrain priority order on the board.
Phase 5: Discard an Action Card
You roll a combat die to determine which card the AI discards. The card to discard is then determined by the same procedure as in phase 1.
End of Round
Complete the Action board. Fill the empty spaces with Action cards, according to the rules of a 2-player game.
Assign the Initiative marker. Determine whether you or the AI becomes the first player. The second player gains one Hoplite from the supply. A new round can then begin.
Reminder: in case of a tie, the Initiative token changes owner.

End of Game and Victory
Victory goes to the first of you or the AI to have 5 victory points and to have pacified its island!
