Game Info

2-6 players | about 18 minutes | complexity 1/5

Each player has a color of stone. The board is a circular grid of intersections, divided into radial lines and concentric arcs.

Gameplay

Players take turns to either:

  • Place a stone, or
  • Capture a stone

Place a Stone

A stone of the player's colour may be placed on any empty intersection on the board.

Stones are connected if they are on adjacent intersections with a line between them. Stones placed diagonally are not connected.

Examples of connected stones (each diagram shows one group of same-colored stones, all counted as a single connected group because each stone touches the next along a board line):

  • Three stones in a straight line along one radial spoke of the board.
  • Three stones in a row along one concentric arc of the board.
  • Five stones forming a plus/cross shape — one central stone with a neighbor attached on each of its four sides (up, down, and along the arc in both directions).

Captures

Instead of placing a stone, a player may choose to capture one of their opponent's stones.

Captured stones count for two points.

A player may only capture an opponent's stone if:

  • Their stone is adjacent to the stone being captured, and
  • There is an empty intersection directly on the opposite side of the opponent's stone.

Multiple captures are permitted, even if they are of multiple colours. You may not capture diagonally, or capture your own stones.

Examples of legal captures (each diagram shows a capture as a jump: the capturing stone jumps over the adjacent opponent stone, landing on the empty intersection on the far side; the jumped-over opponent stone is removed from the board):

  • A stone jumps over an adjacent opponent stone along a radial line, landing on the empty intersection beyond it; the opponent's stone is removed.
  • A stone jumps over an adjacent opponent stone along a concentric arc, landing on the empty intersection beyond it; the opponent's stone is removed.
  • A single turn can chain several such jumps in a row: the stone jumps over one opponent stone, then immediately jumps over the next opponent stone in line, and so on, removing each jumped-over stone, before landing on the final empty intersection.

Captures on Board Game Arena

To make a capture:

  • Select your stone.
  • Select the empty intersection opposite your opponent's stone.

With the Training Labels option enabled, stones with captures available will be marked with an "A".

Game End

When a player runs out of stones, the game ends just before the turn of the starting player.

Scoring

Player score = [number of stones in the largest connected group] + 2 × [number of captured stones]

The player with the highest score wins.
