Crystals are collected as the rover passes over them. A Discovery or Research tile is taken only if the rover finishes its movement on it, and the move cannot continue after pickup. You may also leave a tile where it is. Bots do not collect either: a tile or Crystal is only removed if a bot ends its movement on it, not if it passes over.
