Gameplay

Overview

MY PARK is a so-called draft game. That means: play is simultaneous - round after round, each player chooses one park card from their current hand cards and passes the remaining ones on to their left neighbour. The chosen card is placed in their park. Various placement rules, such as the ascending arrangement of the park cards, must be observed (see p. 9). This continues until all players have 9 cards in their park and scoring takes place. Whoever scores the most points with their park wins.

Card Overview

Park Cards

These cards are "drafted" and used to build your parks. Park cards come in 4 colours (blue, yellow, red and purple). Note: The colours are relevant for the variable scoring cards.

  • Number of the card (1-13 per colour). Note: The number is relevant for observing the placement rules (see p. 9) as well as for certain scoring cards and bonus cards.
  • Price of the card (1-3 coins). Note: You have a total of 15 coins available. During the rest of the game there is no way to obtain additional coins.
  • Symbol of the card: In each colour there are the following symbols: 6x roller coaster symbol (of which 2x with a ticket), 2x theatre masks, 2x tent-and-figure symbol, 2x cutlery (restaurant) symbol, 1x shopping cart. Note: For each different symbol in a park, the respective player receives 1 point (see standard scoring card).
  • Shop action (shopping cart symbol; see "3. Perform any shop actions", p. 10).

Project Plan Cards

The illustration on the card shows which shape every park must have at the end of the game. The line marks the bottom side of the park for each player.

Standard Scoring Card

The standard scoring card is used in every game. It shows the points (star) awarded after every game:

  • 5/3/1 points for no more than 0/1/2 face-down cards in the park (see p. 8).
  • 1 point per ticket in the park.
  • 1 point per 2 coins remaining in a player's supply.
  • 1 point for each different symbol in the park (the ticket does not count as its own symbol).

Variable Scoring Cards

The variable scoring cards are double-sided. Decide together on a side before the game.

Green side:

  • 2 points for each card of this colour (yellow) that lies in the park at the end of the game.
  • 1 point for each card of this colour (purple) that lies in the park at the end of the game.
  • 2 points for each pair of these two colours (blue and red) that lies in the park at the end of the game. The cards do not have to lie next to each other for this.

Blue side:

  • All players who have placed the most park cards of the shown colour in their park receive the point value shown on the largest star. All players who have the second most park cards of the shown colour receive the point value shown on the second-largest star, etc.
  • 2 points for each pair of these two colours at the end of the game. The pairs do not have to lie next to each other for this.

The bottom scoring on a blue side of the scoring cards is a special scoring:

  • 4 points for each set of 4 park cards of different colours. The sets do not have to lie next to each other.
  • 2 points for each park card of the same colour in a row of directly consecutive number values. A row must consist of at least 3 park cards and may extend over several lines. Only the longest row per park is scored.
  • 1 point for each park card in a row of directly consecutive number values - regardless of card colours. A row must consist of at least 3 park cards and may extend over several lines. Only the longest row per park is scored.
  • 1 point for each park card in a group of adjacent cards of the same colour. A group must consist of at least 3 park cards. Only the largest group per park is scored.

Round Sequence

Each of the 9 rounds consists of the following actions, which must be carried out in this order:

1. Choose a park card and place it face down in front of you

Each player chooses one park card from their current hand cards and places it face down in front of them.

Note: Various aspects are relevant for choosing the park card (project plan card, scoring card, bonus card, remaining park cards in circulation, coin supply, the fellow players' parks ...).

2. Place the chosen park card in the park

As soon as all players have placed a park card face down in front of them, each player turns over their chosen card and pays the stated price for it by putting the corresponding number of coins into the box. Then they place the card face up in the park according to the placement rules.

Or, less often: they place it face down in their park because they cannot (or do not want to) pay for it or place it face up.

Placement Rules

  • The card must be placed so that the shape specified by the project plan card can still be completed, or is completed. This also applies to face-down cards.
  • The card must border at least one previously placed card with at least one side. This also applies to face-down cards.
  • Regardless of which park card is laid first, the numbers of the park cards must be ascending from top left to bottom right. Face-down cards have no number value and always count as ascending. They are ignored for this rule.
  • IMPORTANT: It is allowed to place cards with lower values at a later point. In other words, every player may decide for themselves where to start their shape and how it develops, as long as the placement rules are observed.
  • A park may not contain the same number value twice. Face-down cards have no number value.

3. Perform any shop actions

If a player places a park card with the shopping cart symbol face up in their park, they may - depending on the colour of the card - activate the corresponding effect:

  • Yellow: From now on the direction of play changes. Cards are passed in the other direction (see "4. Pass on park cards", p. 11).
  • Blue (2x): All players must again choose a park card from their current hand cards, which they pay for and place according to the same rules, before the hand cards are passed on.
  • Red: The player who placed this card swaps one of their already placed park cards with a hand card. The placement rules must be observed! The new card does not have to be paid for.
  • Purple (X=X): The player who placed this card swaps a card placed in their park with a card from a fellow player's park. The two cards must have the same number. There is no price compensation.

Notes: If carrying out the shop action results in another park card with a shop symbol ending up in a player's park, a further shop action may occur. If several shop effects are carried out in a round, the shop with the higher number is carried out first.

4. Pass on park cards

After every player has placed their park card - and any shop actions have been carried out - the remaining, unchosen park cards are passed on to the left neighbour.

Game End & Scoring

The game ends after all players have placed their 9th park card in their park. The last hand card is not placed and is set aside before scoring. For scoring, take pen and paper and note for each player the points according to the standard scoring card and the variable scoring card.

The player with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, the tied player with fewer face-down cards in their park wins. If there is still a tie, the tied player with more coins left over wins. If there is still a tie, the victory is shared.

Scoring Example

At the end of the game, Lorenzo receives for his park:

  • 3 points for no more than 1 face-down park card.
  • 1 point for 1 ticket symbol.
  • 0 points because he has no money left.
  • 4 points for 4 different symbols (roller coaster, theatre masks, tent-and-figure, cutlery).
  • 4 points for 2 yellow park cards.
  • 3 points for 3 purple park cards.
  • 2 points for a pair of blue and red park cards.

Lorenzo collects a total of 17 points with his park.

Variant with Bonus Cards

The variant with bonus cards brings even more variance into the game. For this, draw 2 random bonus cards during setup and place them face up in the middle of the table.

In the game with 2 and 3 players, the 4 bonus cards with the 4-5 player symbol are first sorted out and set aside.

The bonus cards are scored at the end of the game as follows:

  • 3 points for all players who have placed at least 4 cards with even numbers in their park.
  • 3 points for all players who have placed at least 5 cards with odd numbers in their park.
  • 3 points for all players who have the most coins left over.
  • 3 points for all players who have placed the most roller coaster symbols in their park.
  • (4-5 players symbol; four cards, each showing a different set of symbols) 3 points for all players who have placed the most of the depicted symbols in their park.
