Adding the Component

Transcribed from the information card printed on the back of the pack, under the heading "Adding the Component".

These cards should be kept separate from the main gentry decks. Do not use all of the promo cards in one game. To start, choose some of them according to preference, to add fun and variety to your games.

(The information card also states that each promo card is marked with the Cyrillic letter "П" beneath the frame "ПО".)

Promo Gentry Cards

Each card's printed text is transcribed verbatim under the card's name. The prestige rating (large number, top left), victory point value (wreath, top right), service icons (lower left), and favour and penalty icons (lower right) are described under each card. Icon meanings follow the base game's conventions.

Yuri, Count Varpov (Юрий, граф Варпов)

• Prestige rating: 4 (one fleur-de-lis, a casual guest).
• Victory points: 3.
• Service required: one valet (green meeple).
• Favour: a fan of cards captioned "ДЕЛО" (see the note below).

Card text: Makes an annual ball so grand that the whole capital whispers about him.

Note on the card-fan favour (transcriber's note): the card carries no key for this icon, and its caption "ДЕЛО" is not explained on the card. It is transcribed as printed. Its shape suggests a card-draw favour, but the card itself does not say which card type is drawn, so this is an unconfirmed reading.

Yuri and Alexandra Zagrodski (Юрий и Александра Загродские)

• Prestige rating: 5 (one fleur-de-lis, a casual guest).
• Victory points: 4.
• Service required: one lady's maid (purple meeple) and one valet (green meeple).
• Favour: one reputation (lion rampant).

Card text: The count and his wife believe it is better to skip one ball than a pair of points per game.

Lady Alena Mironova (Леди Алёна Миронова)

• Prestige rating: 3 (one fleur-de-lis, a casual guest).
• Victory points: 2.
• Service required: one lady's maid (purple meeple).
• Favours: two fleur-de-lis (invitation to a prestige guest) and one reputation (lion rampant).

Card text: Lady Alena is well read and knows that Aeschylus is not a kind of cloth.

Elena, Viscountess Shkutkova (Елена, виконтесса Шкуткова)

• Prestige rating: 2 (one fleur-de-lis, a casual guest).
• Victory points: 1.
• Service required: none (grey crossed-out icon).
• Favours: two fleur-de-lis (invitation to a prestige guest) and one reputation (lion rampant).

Card text: At the theatre, Viscountess Elena enjoys the drama; at the evening's game, she herself creates it.

Denis Egorov, Esquire (Денис Егоров, эсквайр)

Subtitle printed on the card: "Boor" (Грубиян).

• Prestige rating: 1 (one fleur-de-lis, a casual guest).
• Victory points: -2 (red wreath: the player loses 2 victory points at end game).
• Service required: none (grey crossed-out icon).
• Favour: £400 (pounds).
• Penalty: one reputation lost (red-framed lion rampant).

Card text: Mr Egorov likes to scatter his money about and ruin the reputation of young ladies.
