Can an Oathsworn take several turns in one Oathsworn phase, and does playing the bottom of an ability card give defense?

Each turn allows one move and one ability card, but you can take as many turns as you have animus for, in any order. The defense shield is gained only when defending against a monster attack, not from playing the bottom of an ability card.
