Card Introduction

Noah Card

  • Animal Card × 96
  • Plant Card × 10
  • Special Power Card × 12

Animal Card

  1. Name: This indicates what species the specific card represents.
  2. Point Value: This indicates how many points you score each turn for having this species in your ecosystem in Scoring Phase. "?" indicates that this card has special scoring rules.
  3. Scoring Hint: Indicates that in Scoring Phase, this card may have special scoring rules, or it need to be passed between players (the migratory animals).
  4. Tier: This indicates which "tier" the species occupies in the food chain. Animals may only eat species that occupy a lower tier (unless otherwise indicated on the card).
  5. Class/ Subclass: This indicates a classification for that species. Every species has a basic "class" (Mammal, Reptile, Amphibian, Bird, Bug, or Plant). Some species may also have an additional "subclass" listed. This may be referenced by specific card rules.
  6. Provides: These icons indicate the type and quantity of resources that this species provides for predators. The color of an icon indicates the type of resource provided and the number of icons indicates the quantity of resources provided. The different resource types are as follows: Green - Plants; Blue - Birds; Yellow - Mammals; Red - Reptiles and Amphibians; White - Bugs. The resources provided by a species dictates which higher-tier species your ecosystem can support. (See Feeding Phase.) If no information provided, there'll be a text to indicate its role in the ecosystem (e.g. top-tier consumer).
  7. Special Rules: This section lists any additional rules pertaining to the card. Some rules have constraints or require actions, some have extra functionalities or score points, and some provide information for special eating rules. The design of all special rules are based on the behaviors of the creature in the ecosystem.
  8. Eats: These icons indicate the type and quantity of food that this species must consume in order to survive in your ecosystem. A slash "/" indicates "or", while a plus sign "+" indicates "and".

Special Power Card

  1. Name: This indicates the effect of this card.
  2. Card Type: This indicates this card is not a animal nor a plant card, but in an individual category "Special Power".
  3. Effect: This indicates the effect when playing this card.

Plant Card

  • Orchid × 10
  • Bamboo × 10
  • Fig × 10
  1. Name: This indicates what species the specific card represents.
  2. Point Value: This indicates how many points you score each turn for having this species in your ecosystem in Scoring Phase.
  3. Tier: This indicates which "tier" the species occupies in the food chain. All basic plant cards are in T0.
  4. Class/ Subclass: This indicates a classification for that species. There are only 3 classes: Flower, Fruit and Bamboo for basic plant cards.
  5. Provide: These icons indicate the type and quantity of resources that this species provides for predators.

Environment Card

  1. Name: This indicates the effect of this card.
  2. Effect: This indicates the effect when playing this card.

Setup

  1. Every player takes 2 scoring tokens in the same color, one is placed on the scoring board, the other one is placed in the front of the player as an indicator. The initial player is the youngest player, other players take turns clockwise. The initial player places his/her scoring token on position 0 on the scoring board, the next player places his/her token on position 1, and the next player places on position 3, and so on. (Printed as "position 3" in the source; transcribed as printed.)
  2. Shuffle the Noah Cards, deal 7 cards to each player, place the remaining Noah Cards face down in the center of the table as the Noah Card Pile. There are quite a lot of Noah Cards, you can separate them to 2 piles optionally.
  3. Shuffle the Plant Cards, deal 2 cards to each player, every player then place their Basic Plant Card face-up in their front, place the remaining Plant Cards face down in the center of the table as the Plant Pile, flip over the top card. The top card should always be visible to all players.
  4. Starting from the initial player, every player must choose 2 cards they do not want to keep and discard them from their hand and place them to Discard Pile.
  • The environment cards are only used in advanced rules
  • During the gameplay, if a Basic Plant Card extincts, the card will be removed from the game.
  • During the gameplay, if lacking Basic Plant Cards, the removed cards will be restored.
  • During the gameplay, If lacking Noah Cards, then Discard Pile gets reset.

Ecosystem Setup

Each player has an individual ecosystem in his/her front, during the gameplay the species should be placed in order of their tiers. The species in the same tier should be placed in the same row, see the picture:

  • Initially you have only 2 Basic Plant Cards in your ecosystem.
  • It's not necessary to place your cards tier by tier in your ecosystem. For Example, you can play a T3 card even if you don't have a T2 card in your ecosystem, as long as you satisfy the requirement for feeding the species in the ecosystem.

(Diagram: tiers T0 to T4 shown as rows; "You can play card of any tier in the very beginning".)

Gameplay

There are several rounds for a game, each round starts from the initial player, every player takes turns in order. Each player's turn consists of 3 phases: Action, Feeding, and Scoring, when a player finish all 3 phases then the next player starts his/her turn.

Action Phase → Feeding Phase → Scoring Phase

Action Phase

Every player must take 3 actions in his/her Action Phase, below are the available actions. You can choose to do an action more than once.

  • Search: Take the top 2 cards from the Noah Card Pile. Put one of them in your hand and put the other face-up on top of the discard pile.
  • Circulation: Put a card from your hand, face-up, on top of the Discard Pile. Then take the top 2 cards of the draw pile and put them both in your hand.
  • Regenerate: Take the top card of the Discard Pile and put it in your hand.
  • Plant: Take the top card of the Plant Pile and put it directly in your ecosystem. * Remember to turn the top card of the Plant Pile face up.
  • Create: Play a card from your hand, place it in your ecosystem. If it is a Special Power Card, follow the instructions on the card and then set it aside. (Special Power cards are not added to the Discard Pile; they are removed from the game after they are played.)

Feeding Phase

Starting from T1 species, each species should be fed according to the required quantity and type of species described on the card, and should follow the Feeding Rules below. Turn the card horizontal to indicate it is eaten (the card being eaten can not be eaten again by others). The process applies to T1, T2, T3, T4 species sequentially until all the species are fed. If any species in your ecosystem can't get enough food, they'll be extinct instantly!

Extinct: move the card to Discard Pile, if this card is a Basic Plant Card or Special Power Card, it will be removed from the game.

Feeding Rules:

  1. A species can only eat other species that belong to a lower tier (unless otherwise indicated on the card).
  2. In order to provide resources for another species, a species must eat first—so species that eat plants will necessarily eat first before providing resources for higher-tier species.
  3. Each species can only be eaten by one species. (Even though the species provide more food value a predator requires, it cannot be used to feed another predator.)
  4. Hint: within the same tier you can start your feeding process from left to right to avoid calculating error.

(Diagram examples on page 7 of the source: "Only eat flower, but it won't be consumed"; "Need to eat 2 serving of plants".)

(Diagram examples on page 8 of the source: "Need to eat 1 bird or insect"; "Can eat T2 bird"; "Need to eat 2 Plants or Insects". Eaten cards are marked "Have been eaten".)

Scoring Phase

Turn all eaten cards vertical.

Add up the total point value of all the species in your ecosystem and move your corresponding scoring token on the scoreboard accordingly.

After finishing your scoring step, draw 2 cards from the Noah Card Pile and add them to your hand.

(Diagram: extinct species are moved to the Discard Pile; add up the total point value of all the LIVING species.)

Game End

Once one player reaches a total score of 100 or more points, finish the round so that every player has an equal number of turns. When the final round is complete, the player with the highest score wins!

Advanced Rules

In the setup phase, put 1 Environment Card in the center of the table, and modify some part of rules according to this card (if players want to have an even more challenging setup, put 2 or more Environment Cards).

Strategy Variants

In the game setup step 2, after dealing 7 Noah cards to each player, all the player start the exchanging process: keep 1 card, pass the other 6 cards to the left hand side player, then select and keep 1 card from the cards passed by your right hand side player, pass the other 5 cards to your left hand side player, and so on. After 7 rounds, each player will still have 7 cards. (In game setup step 4, every players should discard 2 cards as normal rules.)

When finishing the setup, start from the initial player, create a new Selection Area and draw 3 Noah Cards and place them face-up on the Selection Area I, II and III.

In the Action Phase, there's a new type of action available: Develop. Develop can be executed multiple times as well.

  • Develop: Take the card from Selection Area I and cost 1 action, or take the card from Selection Area II or III and cost 2 actions.

After Scoring Phase, if there's a card on Selection Area I, move it to the Discard Pile, skip this step if there's no card on the area; then move the cards in Selection Area II and III to the right hand side areas, to fill in all the empty areas if possible. After moving the cards, draw new cards from Noah Card Pile and fill in the remaining empty areas.

Single Player Rules

The first 3 steps of setup are the same with normal rules, but the step 4 — to discard 2 cards — is skipped.

Action Phase: A modification is that the player no longer has default actions, all the actions come from the action "discard a card", with each discarded card gain the player 1 action. In this phase the player has only 3 actions available now: Plant, Create and Develop. You need to discard cards first to gain the actions and then start your actions.

* Develop is refer to the variants, but take the card from Selection Area I cost 2 action instead of 1 with single player rules.

Feeding Phase: Same with normal rules.

Scoring Phase: Same with normal rules, except the migratory animals get removed from the game instead of moving to other players. After finishing the scoring phase, draw 7 Noah Cards instead of 2.
