Playing the Game
The game is played in three rounds: the Home Round, the Travel Round and the Final.
1. Home Round
Translate to your own language, win 7 cards and move on to the Travel Round.
On your turn:
a) Start on the Raven, house up. Throw the die and move clockwise.
b) The person on your right takes the top card from the deck corresponding to where you landed and reads out all the text in German.
c) Translate into English.
Right answer: You win the card! Keep it and throw again. NB! Only one extra throw!
Wrong answer: The card is read out loud and sent round for every player to read, and then replaced on top of the deck it came from.
Proceed to the next player.
Once you have collected 7 cards, put your language cards back on top of their decks, your surprise cards at the bottom, and move on to the Travel Round.
2. Travel Round
Translate to the foreign language, win 7 cards and move on to the Final.
On your turn:
a) Start on the Raven, plane up. Throw the die and move clockwise.
b) The person on your right takes the corresponding card and reads out all the text in English.
c) Translate into German.
Once you have collected 7 cards, go on to the Final.
3. Final
Place your counter on the world map. Hand over all your language cards to the person on your right, who will read them to you one by one in English.
If you manage to translate all the cards into German, you win the game!
If you make a mistake, the right answer will be read out. You may then look at your cards and try again on your next turn.
NB! During the Final, you do not throw the die and you cannot lose cards.
After the game, place all cards at the bottom of their decks.
Special Fields
Two fields on the board allow you to win cards from any level:
Joker: Choose a language card from any level, have it read out and try to translate it.
Raven: Choose one of your opponents' language cards, have it read out and try to win it (if they do not have any cards, throw again).
NB! A card cannot be "ravened" more than once.
Cards won from a higher level than yours allow you to proceed with fewer than 7 cards, as:
- 1 Red card counts as 2 Orange or 3 Yellow
- 1 Orange card counts as 2 Yellow
Surprise Cards
Surprise cards come in two kinds: quiz cards and quiz & role-play cards.
Quiz cards: Quiz cards are read out and answered in the respondent's own language.
Quiz & Role-play cards: In the role-play you choose a fellow player as your partner. This person should mainly listen but may also participate. The other players will decide whether you will be awarded the card or not, based on your imagination and enthusiasm.
NB! Surprise cards should not be translated and cannot be "ravened".
