The Archive Room (once, with an inactive Knowledge token) gives 2 Knowledge, activates the token and lets you peek at any one Contingency token, even outside your Section. The Alert Room lets you either start the Alert Procedure or peek at a Neutral Pool token. Neither can show the Active Contingency. Whether you keep a peeked Neutral Pool token is contested: the rulebook says you obtain it, but a support reply relayed on BGG says no. Using the Archive does not stop you gaining Knowledge elsewhere.
