Motive Setup
If you finish the game with a victory within 4-6 turns, you may also try to solve the motive of the crime…
Depending on the number of players and the difficulty level you have chosen, place the corresponding number of random motive cards (brown back) face up in the centre of the table, according to the table in the base game rules.
The Ghost takes from his cards (green back) exactly the same motive cards, shuffles them, and places one random card face down in front of himself. After looking at his motive card, the Ghost keeps it hidden from the Psychics.
Shared Dream
In the Hidden Motive expansion, the Ghost chooses two dream cards from those in his hand and lays them out, which, in his opinion, will point the Psychics to the motive of the crime.
Dream Interpretation
The Psychics together determine the motive of the crime. Once they have decided, each Psychic places their magic ball on the motive card to which, in their opinion, the Ghost's dream points. If no motive is chosen by a majority of the Psychics, they must continue the discussion until this happens.
Motive Reveal
The Ghost announces to the Psychics whether their decision was correct or incorrect.
- If the Psychics correctly identified the motive of the crime, the Ghost reveals his motive card, and the game ends in a victory for the players.
- If the Psychics made an incorrect decision, remove to the box the motive card on which the majority of the Psychics placed their ball. This card is no longer needed in the game.
Move the weekday marker to the next space on the calendar board. A new turn begins with the "Dream Interpretation" phase.
