Objective of the Game
During the game, players will place dungeon tiles on their boards. At the end of the game, each of them will travel through the underground corridors they have created. Each treasure found in the dungeon is worth 1 point, and each dark figure encountered means the loss of 2 points. The player with the most points wins.
Game Setup
A. Each player places one board in front of them on the table (with the dungeon entrance facing the player).
B. Point markers should be placed in the middle of the table.
C. Each player takes a set of 20 dungeon tiles in their chosen color (the sets differ by the color of their backs). The youngest player shuffles their tiles thoroughly and forms them into a pile, arranging them picture-side down. The other players lay their tiles out next to each other, picture-side up.
Gameplay
The youngest player takes the top tile from their pile and shows it to the other players, who take the same tile from their own sets. All players place the tile on their boards, on any empty space. Then the youngest player takes the next tile from the top of their pile and shows it to the other players. Play continues in this way until 16 tiles have been placed on each player's board.
Scoring
After filling their boards with tiles, players set out on a journey through the corridors they have built. Yellow point markers are used to mark treasures found in the dungeon, and red point markers mark dark figures encountered.
Note! The journey through the corridors must begin at the dungeon entrance.
Each treasure with a yellow marker on it is worth 1 point, and each dark figure with a red marker on it is -2 points. The player with the most points wins.
Example treasures: goblet, gem, diamond, pile of coins, ring, crown
Dark figures: imp, bat, spider, goblin, ghost, skeleton
Example: In the underground corridors, a player found 12 treasures (marked with yellow markers) and encountered 2 dark figures (marked with red markers). They scored 8 points, because 12 – 4 = 8.
Playing Several Games
During each game, 16 of the 20 dungeon tiles will be used. This means every game will be different.
Players can agree to play several games in a row. After each one ends, they record the points scored. The player who scores the most points in total wins.
If you have no one to play with, try the 1-player game. Try to score as many points as possible.
"Step by Step" Variant
This variant contains one change to the rules of the game, making the game a bit harder than in the basic variant.
At the start of the game, the youngest player takes the top tile from their pile and shows it to the other players, who take the same tile from their own sets. All players place the tile on one of the two spaces adjacent to the dungeon entrance.
Subsequent tiles must be placed so that they are adjacent by at least one side to tiles already on the board. The remaining rules do not change.
