Dear Parents
This guide offers many helpful tips on how to explore the game materials together. As you play, your child will naturally develop a variety of important skills: recognizing and matching shapes, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and language development. Learning happens almost effortlessly because above all, playing is just plain fun!
Before the First Game
Important! Dear parents, please remove the paper band and carefully punch out the game pieces from the punchboards. For safety reasons, the following items should be discarded: the paper band, the punchboard frames, the narrow cardboard strips, and any parts marked with a trash can symbol. These items are not needed for gameplay.
What's Included
1 game box base, 3 dividers, 1 tractor hood, 1 trailer, 1 windshield, 16 harvest tiles (4 flowers, 4 pumpkins, 4 corn cobs, 4 bales of straw), 1 rod, 1 die
Assembling the Tractor
The assembly must be done by an adult.
- Place the empty game box base in the center of the table. Take the three green dividers, connect them as shown, and place the assembled grid into the game box base.
- Slide the wooden rod through the hole in the die, then insert both pieces into the designated slots in the grid.
- Place the tractor hood on top of the grid so that the die is visible through the opening. Insert the flap into the slots in the grid.
- Next, place the trailer on top of the grid.
- Finally, insert the windshield at an angle into the slot on the tractor hood so that it passes through the opening in the grid beneath the hood.
After playing, simply remove the windshield from the slot. The rest of the tractor can remain assembled. Place all the harvest tiles back into the trailer, and lay the windshield and the instructions on top.
Free Play and Discovering Details
In free play, your child can explore the game materials at their own pace. Join in!
Push the tractor to your child and invite them to drive it back to you. Encourage your child to spin the die and discover together what Lenny has harvested. Talk about what other kinds of things could be harvested. Chat about all the different jobs there are to do on a farm.
Children love the farm because of the animals, the fresh air, and the joy of playing in open fields and hay. Why not plan a visit to a farm with your child? Getting a glimpse into farm life can be an exciting adventure. And who knows, your child might even get the chance to lend a hand or ride along on a real tractor!
Before You Begin
Place all the harvest tiles in the trailer. Set the tractor in the center of the table.
Let's Get Started
Take turns playing in a clockwise direction. Has anyone ever sat in a tractor before? You start by pushing the tractor so that its long side is facing you.
What to Do
1. Roll the Die
Tap the die gently with your index finger to make it spin. If the die stops and shows two sides, choose one of them and turn it face up.
What shape is on the die? Flower, triangle, circle, or rectangle? Say the shapes out loud.
2. Unload
Check if you can unload a matching harvest tile from the tractor's trailer.
Is there a harvest tile with this shape on it in the trailer?
- Yes? Great! Unload the matching harvest tile and place it in front of you.
- No? That's too bad. Hopefully, you will have better luck in the next round.
Next, push the tractor to the next child. It's their turn now.
When Is the Game Over?
The game ends when one child unloads the last harvest tile from the trailer. The winner is the child with the most harvest tiles in front of them. If two or more children have the same number of harvest tiles, they all win together.
Children learn to carry out simple game actions independently through practice. Support their actions with short, calmly spoken sentences, and let your child spin the die and unload the harvest tiles on their own. This way, they'll quickly become familiar with the game and are sure to have lots of fun.
Variant: Harvest Time
Lenny has a lot to do. The entire harvest needs to be loaded onto the tractor's trailer. Can you help?
At the beginning, give each player one flower, one pumpkin, one corn cob, and one bale of straw. Place the harvest tiles in front of you, this is your personal supply. Remove any extra tiles from the game.
- Loading the harvest: Check if you have a matching tile in your supply. If you do, load it onto the trailer.
- The game ends when one child loads their last tile onto the trailer. That child wins.
