Preparation
Place all the tiles on the playing area so that the darker "seaside" is up. Shuffle the tiles carefully.
Place Moomintroll in the reach of all players.
Playing the game
The youngest player begins and the turn progresses clockwise. On your turn take the Moomintroll, place it onto one of the tiles in the middle and then lift him up to see, if he was lucky enough to catch some fish. If the tile sticks to the Moomintroll, the player has made a catch. Take the tile and see if you have caught some fish. The normal catch would be fish, but it can also be something else (see Catches). All players collects their fish in front of them. If the tile does not stick, Moomintroll did not have any luck in catching fish this time. In all cases, then the turn goes to the next player.
Catches
- 1 fish
- 2 fish
- Old coffee pot is collected with the players catch but it is not counted as a fish.
- Snufkin with a fish – tile is counted as a fish. Snufkin helps the player by getting him/her a new turn right away.
- Stinky with a fish – tile is counted as a fish. Each player must select one of his/her tiles and return it to the middle with the "seaside" up. Then all the tiles in the middle should be carefully shuffled and then it is the next players turn to try to catch some fish with Moomin. Note: you may not select and return a tile with Stinky to the middle. If you only have tiles with Stinky or no tiles at all, you don't need to return a tile to the middle.
And the winner is….
The game ends when a player has managed to catch enough fish at the end of his/her turn. 2 players – 10 fish, 3 players – 7 fish, 4 players – 6 fish. If you run out of fish before any player has caught the required number, the winner is the player who has got the coffee pot.
