How to Play
Grab your detective's hat and explore a cold case file. Work to unravel all of the evidence and root out the killer by figuring out their Motive, Means, and Opportunity:
- Motive — Who had a reason to kill the victim? Does any particular person benefit — financially or romantically — from the victim's death?
- Means — Who had access to the murder weapon? Does any particular person have the unique knowledge, skill, or physical ability necessary to use the murder weapon?
- Opportunity — Who had a chance to kill the victim? Is any particular person unaccounted for (has no alibi) during the time the victim was killed?
Players think like a detective and work alone or with others to determine the motive, means, and opportunity of each suspect to solve the case. There are many suspects, but only one could be guilty.
Recommended for 1 or more players, ages 14 and up.
Game Concept
Murder Mystery Party Case Files are packed with physical and digital evidence. The case is conceived as a realistic criminal case and requires investigations similar to those carried out by the criminal police in real life. The game can be played in a cooperative mode, with the whole group working together on one case, as well as in a competition mode, where players split into teams and compete to find the criminal first.
The case is designed as a one-off experience, like an escape room or a crime dinner — once a group has worked out the solution, the case cannot meaningfully be replayed by the same players, though it can be passed on and played again by a different group.

Solving the Case

If you get stuck partway through, the same online resource offers hints before giving away the full solution.
