Game idea
The players are the treasure hunters. During his turn, a player rolls the five dice up to three times; then swaps the dice for treasure tiles that he places on his excavation site. The more matching symbols that appear on the dice, the bigger and more valuable the treasure tile he receives.
But watch out: treasure tiles come in different sizes. So you must keep your wits about you and place the tiles on your excavation site making sure that no gaps remain. The aim of the game is to be the first to have covered one's excavation site completely with tiles.
Before playing for the first time
First you must place the stickers onto the dice. Six different symbol stickers are included. Stick one of each symbol on each single face of a die. An extra sticker for each symbol will be left over!
Preparation of the game
Each player takes an excavation site and places it in front of him. Sort and pile the treasure tiles according to their sizes (six in all) in the center of the table. Get the dice ready. If there are only two or three players the remaining excavation sites are returned to the game box.
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. The boldest player starts. If you cannot agree, the youngest player starts and rolls all the dice.
Compare the symbols on the dice with the treasure tile on top of each pile in the center of the table. Each tile shows one to four symbols. In order to receive a tile, your dice must show the corresponding symbols.
Important dice rolling rules
- During your turn you can roll the dice up to three times.
- First you roll all five dice.
- The second and third times you roll as many dice as you wish.
- After rolling the dice, put aside any dice you want to reserve.
- When rolling the third time you can recuperate any dice you may have set aside.
- If, on the first or second turn rolling the dice, the symbols necessary for the treasure tile you want already appear, you can stop from rolling the dice again.
- After finally rolling the dice for a third time you must swap the dice for a treasure tile.
- You only get a tile if you have rolled all the symbols on it.
- If after rolling three times you still have not got the symbols needed, unfortunately you don't receive a tile.
The rules for the placement of tiles
- Before placing the treasure tile, you can turn it any way you want.
- You always have to place the tile following the grid of the excavation site.
- You may not place treasure tiles on top of each other or on the edge.
- Once you have placed tiles, you cannot later change their position.
- If there is not enough space for a treasure tile on your excavation site, you may not take it.
Then it's the turn of the next player to roll the dice.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as a player has covered all the squares of his excavation site with treasure tiles thus winning the game and being the biggest treasure hunter of all times!
Hint
The game is easier if you are allowed to move the tiles after they have been positioned.
